Any Holy Paladins Doing +12s Who Could Help Me?

Well, I thought I knew how to play Holy Paladin, but my mana is always gone by the third boss in Darkflame Cleft. Any tips? I also have some doubts about secondary stats. On Murlok.io, there are paladins who go for haste > crit, and others who go haste > vers. I chose to go with haste > vers.
My DPS is also really bad—I can’t do more than 3% of the total damage. Most of the time, I don’t even reach 2%…

Top pallies aren’t really running bov much now. There’s the mana. I’m also guessing you are over casting hol / fol. Only a guess though.

Kinda scared to go without BoV. Wouldn’t that mess up my AoE healing?

The cd on toll is super short with the tier which I think makes up for the aoe. I’ve always hated virtue even when it was meta so hadn’t changed much for me…

Nope. Not at all.

Beacons got severily nerfed going into this season. Both of them, and also during S1 Virtue got nerfed 2 times as well (one of this nerf were kinda reverted but still you can see how much mana it uses). If you see our breakdowns beacons accounts for ~10% of our overall, and if you watch everyone’s health bars during virtue windows you will see how little BoV actually moves other bars in comparison to your WoGs/Holy Shocks/Divine Toll etc etc.

Give it a try in a weekly 10. At first it will feel weird and your muscle memory will ask for it, then you will see its actually not needed at all and now your mana efficiency is great and have a lot more GCDs to heal/do damage. Your overall will improve at least like 100K due to having more time to dps, but still, healer dps is mostly irrelevant this season.

TLDR; most of your healing comes from other sources, not your beacons.
Run Faith, Reclamation, Truth prevails and Seasons and you are golden.

Thanks! I’ll try playing without BoV.

I will give you my recomendation of what I do.

I have clique. I leave faith to the squishiest and right click Light when it’s needed. Light doesn’t share GCD.

Target WoG to the player who doesn’t have the beacon or yourself since you are going to crit/heal more thanks to eternal flame. you will transfer more % on the beacon bearers.

You need to move your beacons to optimize AoE healing on these situations.

What about his question on the stats. I see you have the ellesmere setup on crafted weapon and shield - one with crit/haste and one with haste/verse. I feel like we want mostly crit/haste with some vers mixed in. Thought?

And, just in case you didn’t notice, you’re missing an extra gem in each ring.

Haste is king of course (faster building and spending of holy power to reduce Divine Toll cooldown)

Crit is better throughput than Vers, but Vers gives you survivability constantly. If you want numbers and your party is dying more than you, focus more crit. If you feel a little squishy, sprinkle in Vers to taste.

Martyr build is finally really fun, and I feel rewarded for avoiding avoidable mechanics so my self heal absorb becomes skill expression.

Stat wise

I have
96k Int
32% Haste
31% Mastery
20% Versa
16% Crit.

Healers, in general, use a lot of versa in higher keys for survivability and DPS. Ellesmere is doing 18s; he needs those. For those like us who are in the range of 13-14s, having mid-verse and mid-crit is fine. I am aiming for 20 - 20. Remember you have extra modifiers for crit in your toolkit, so that 20% crit might be 45-50.

19s

Your mastery seems really high given how much vers you have. That’s usually the trade off. Nice job with your stat distribution

It’s because of the syren’s ring. I can’t wait to find the Ring of ToP in the vault so I can freaking change it haahahaha. Also It doesn’t help that both Chest and Legs give mastery. I have 2 pieces as well that provide me with mastery, but they were upgrades in the vault. Nothing can be done there until the season progresses.

Personally, I’m not planning to go much higher than 13-14s this season, but hey, that’s just me.

Stat prio is well explained in Wingsisup page (Haste > Crit > Vers > Mastery in M+ (at 14+ key levels you’ll need to start prioritizing vers > crit to survive one shot mechanics)). But if we want more precise numbers:

  • Haste should can be between 30-35%.

  • For higher keys, around or slightly above 10% Vers should be good. I think Ellesmere is running about 12%? for 18s-19s? so there’s that.

  • Crit can be ~20% or higher depending on the gear you have gotten for mythic tracks/raids/etc etc. Again this should be your third best unless you are not caring to push much beyond low 10s. Even in 12s having much verse isn’t really needed at all, because one shots are not happening yet in this range.

In my opinion, once you have decent haste and as long as you have that prio in mind, stats aren’t that big of a deal unless you truly want to min max, at this point I would say its subjective on what personally you prefer and also what content you are aiming to do, and you can see this if you check the stats of other paladins in the top 10 like Tempohlight which is running 4% verse against Attack which is running 17%, both doing keys up to 17s at the moment.

Note: thanks for the rings advice. Totally forgot it was 2 gems lol
