PST vs EST, etc.
that kind of stuff?
Compiled answers (i.e. TLDR)
Defias Pillager is EST and located in Chicago
Skull Rock is PST and located in Los Angeles
Depending on your specific internet backbone routing (i.e. how your internet routes things), ping times might be similar or vary to both those locations.
Blizzard has a realm status page linked below in thread.
From what I’ve been told. Skull Rock is PST. Defias Pillager is EST.

Thank you.
Does Blizzard still locate realms in different regions (i.e. ping times) or are they all in same location?
Would like to know this as well
Kind of related, I am wondering if it will be a separate download like classic and wrath are or if it is just new names on the realm list
There has to be a separate download… to allow for one life, level 60 server wide announcements, in guild death announcements, the changes to quests where you are required to die etc…

what I figure too. Just not seeing it anywhere
Yes they do. I live in South America and my latency varies, sometimes more than 50ms accordingly to the server i log into.
As an example in those Era servers, which are full, i get about 180ms, while in the Mankrik cluster, (pve), i get up to 230ms.
A traceroute can easily confirm their locations.

For people attached to the north american servers (including oceania and sth america) the realm status forums lists classic era servers and hardcore servers. There are two hardcore servers listed with their locations.

True.
For NA there are two data centers: Chicago and Los Angeles.
With the other Classic servers, those stating they are Eastern are hosted in Chicago with the Pacific in LA. I imagine that will be the case with the hardcore servers as well.

I find it very hard to believe that we are only getting two HC servers and that they are both PvE. It must be a mistake that they said that.
As far as I know there isn’t. The servers were even visible in the classic era client yesterday. Haven’t checked today.
If you look at realm status it includes hardcore servers - 2 in US (no oceania). You can also see listings for Europe(2), Korea(1) and Taiwan(3).

I was replying to the separate download. Which I don’t think will be required for hardcore since the servers were already selectable in the game (however offline)
It was in the patch last time you downloaded, the servers are ready to open at launch.
