I know this is a bit of an odd question, but I’m in a guild composed of my good friends, and I don’t really want to leave it, but the guild is also not specifically RP oriented. We’re mostly RPers, but there’s no over arching themes, or stories, and it’s something I’m missing. So I was wondering if there are any RP groups that I could possibly join that doesn’t explicitly require me to join a guild. Maybe something organized over discord? I’ve joined the WRA specific one so I can catch some of the larger, open invitation events at the very least, but I’m hoping to find something a little more involved.

Most of the ones i’m aware of (in a very general way) have some sort of theme. Maybe something about a specific playable race, or a geographical area, or a lifestyle. So you may get more responses to your interest if you let people know those sorts of things about the character(s) you intend to RP on. 'i’m open to anything" isn’t likely to draw as much attention as “A war-weary Pandaren whose home is in Sri-La but has a lot of business connections overseas”.
I suppose that’s fair, yeah. I guess I was hoping to see what was out there, but if it’s not particularly common then being more specific would be helpful.
I’m partial toward magic oriented groups, especially Kirin Tor themed ones. Wouldn’t mind a vulpera group either since I’m playing one that has been away from home for so long that he’s sort of awkwardly relearning how to be a vulpera.

All WoW roleplayers are welcome here, whether from Retail servers, Classic, Epsilon, or even none of the above. Everyone is welcome to RP their own stories, jump into existing open stories, or coordinate to join in a private story. We also occasionally have game master directed stories going on as well.
There are many communities which does not require guild or Discord membership. For premade EBGs, there are Alterac Valley Maniacs (Horde), Ruthless Renegades (Alliance), and Heavenly Knights (Neutral).
For PVE such as Mythics, Heroics, etc… I just use Facebook. Tons of guilds advertising events schedule. If I want into a Mythic or heroic, I just ask! You will at least need Discord for this if VC is required.
For PvP and PvE content, you do not need to change guilds or join in-game.
For RP, if you are new to it, roll MG Alliance for it. Gets the cold stares through rose tinted sunshade glasses I will always advise a situation with greater odds. In its current iteration, MG Alliance is best place to start at which point more doors will open, even for WRA. It guild/Discord Horde RP is your preference, WRA or MG Horde offers it with WRA having more online communities for Horde.
