Any guides for running Invasions as a Prot pally?

I’ve just got my father playing SoD (he loved raiding back in the day too), and a couple other friends seem on the fence about giving it a try as well. I figure if I can help them jump up to 60 quickly (we’ve all leveled the normal way, either in Vanilla or in Classic), they’re way more likely to give it a try.

So far, my pally has 6 pieces of T1, 2 pieces of T2, and the “Reckoner” shoulder enchant. Most of his other items suck, but he has the epic 1hand and shield from Scholo (trying to get multiple shields).

My spec is pretty standard Prot, except I put points in Holy to get Consecration, so just got 7 points in Ret for the Judgement cooldown reduction.

I pretty much just keep Holy Shield and Seal of Light up 100% of the time, and Consecrate most of the time unless I’m too low on mana. Since nobody is taking threat off me, I run with Crusader Strike for the extra mana, and I have the libram that grants 2% mana on block.

Still, I can handle about 4 mobs at a time, but any more than that and I’m pretty much dead. I’ve tried paying attention to other Paladins I see running the invasions, but I can’t see what they’re doing that lets them tackle these HUGE groups of mobs?

Any ideas or suggestions? Is there a specific trinket I’m missing that would make a world of difference? Do I have the wrong gear or shoulder enchant?

When I do it I run 6 pieces of T2, a shield with a shield spike (optional) and a standard prot spec.

You want to use the mana on block relic from reals, the Holy Shield has no charges shoulder rune, the consecration heals you chest rune, and use Seal of Light or Seal of Wisdom depending on your mana or health, usually just light with the relic.

Pull as much as you can, you’ll take next to no damage from blocking, and the reckoning procs will make you attack like a machine gun causing massive light procs for healing, and whatever doesn’t cover that is handled by your consecration.

All you have to do is maintain your seal, and consecration/holy shield on cd.

My suggestion is bring 2-3 weapons and shields as the durability they take is insane.

If you find your block value inadequate you can swap to the shield block chest rune instead.

If you DO get better gear, you’ll want to try out 4 piece Naxx ret set, and swap our Hammer of the Righteous for the lowered cd on Holy Wrath. Then add Holy Wrath into the rotation too.
