Any ESO Advice?

Wow no content.
GW2 no content.
Might start ESO. Combat animations seem incredible. Zones look great!
Any tips for someone who’s never played ES?
Thanks!

You do not need to have played any of the other Elder Scrolls games. This one takes place relatively early on, roughly 1000 years before Skyrim.

If you care about story I’d recommend following this as a loose guide:

https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/525351/a-clear-step-by-step-guide-to-playing-eso-in-chronological-order

When the game came out you played through it in chronological order but One Tamriel made the game open world/scaling and broke that.

If you do not care about story, go nuts. Most areas introduced after the original release content are fairly self contained.

I like to sub to the game when I play because I like having access to all of the content. If you play the free game and decide you want to see more then sub. Subs will NOT grant access to Chapter DLC. Unless they do. It can get confusing but as a new player if you want all of them, there are collections.

ESO is fun but you might consider getting ESO+ otherwise it’s gonno be an inventory nightmare. If you wanna just play it free first, then I’d recommend not gathering mats (unless if you’re going to sell or store them immediately). It’s up to you really but that initial 60 inventory slots (if I recall) is kinda annoying.

Getting the skyshard and lorebooks addon would be good. But I think that’s something you can get going after you experience the first few zones cause installing addons requires a whole bunch of dependent libraries. For now it’s easier to use an online map like https://eso-hub.com/en/interactive-map

Faction doesn’t matter. So feel free to play whatever you want. There’s probably some dps difference for some race/class combo which you can look up. But personally I play too casually to care about that.

There’s starter builds that you can follow that is sufficient for leveling and experiencing the game. So nothing to worry about there.

Overall, the game is nice. The story is pretty good, and questing through Morrowind was really one of the best experiences I’ve had. I don’t play it for too long though because I get bored with the combat mechanics after a while.
