Any chance the upcoming changes will help fire?

Cause man, I need another ranged class but I don’t really enjoy Frost or Arcane.

Don’t worry man, they’ll make fire the top mage spec soon enough, like every season, which is just some bs. It starts by nerfing the other mage specs - see all the new Arcane threads - so we’re in phase 1 of this seasonal transition to fire spec.

From what I read, these changes will help, but not by much. Maybe move up a tier from D to C.

No, this won’t do anything. Leaning into Living Bomb was such a bad idea but here we are. It’s either bonkers OP or useless - right now we’re at the latter, as we were last expansion (and the one before that, and…) except now we have 8 lovely talents to also ignore. I don’t know who thought we needed ignite 2.0 but with more (rng) steps.

The options were so clearly: create something new?
OR
try to just reuse an existing thing/spell/animation that was very obviously impossible to tune but hey didn’t have to create anything! JIRA ticket closed

They nerfed living bombs damage WAY too much. The 30% increase to its damage does barely anything.

I tested out what it currently does on my main, about 475 IL (not pushing too hard)

Living bomb with just the frostfire talents to get it to proc does about…15k damage as a crit… With the 30% buff, it will crit for… ~20k.

With taking ALL fire tree talents for its damage, it was critting for about 37k, so it will hit for ~48k after the changes.

My living bombs on a level 70 were easily critting for hundreds of thousands of damage.

The pyroblast damage increase accounts for about a 2.5% increase to damage based on sims. This update moves them from d to d +.

To bring living bomb back to its old damage, it would need a buff in the hundreds of % more damage. Which, IMO, needs to happen. Maybe not to exactly how much it was doing, but it needs to be close, especially after the other nerfs were made to its proc chance and splash capabilities.

My frostfire FROST mages living bomb does MORE damage (double the damage) than my FIRE MAGES living bomb with all talents taken for it, freaking laughable.

To understand what was done:

Lets say it dealt 1k damage and they nerf it by 90%. That would mean it deals 100 damage now. To bring it back up to 1k damage, they would need to buff it 900%.

Fire hasn’t been the top spec since the last 2 tiers of BFA… what are you talking about lol. And they weren’t good in M+ until you were doing 23s and up in dragonflight. Which seems this will be the case again this xp in a tier or 2.

The last time I felt that Fire was good was TBC/early Wrath, tbh.
