Any chance that drain life do something blizzard?

Just wondering if drain life could do some healing, cause right now the spell is useless.

All of this. I’m all ears, Blizz.

I wonder what the difference in defensive gain even is when you factor in stuff like Leech and Soul Leech on Drain Soul verse Drain Life.

But yeah, DL is pretty worthless right now.

Its almost as useless as corruption on demonologist. Almost.

I wouldn’t say useless. It will keep you alive in a pinch. It’s just nowhere as good as it used to be.

No it’s quite literally useless bro

It does actually heal. You just miss the old empowered version where you could go from 1-100 in 4 seconds.

Honestly it should be a cd that just does this by default. It would fit the warlock theme.

A costly last ditch effort type of spell that can save your life or kill your enemy

just started levelling my alt lock and personally I kind of wish that they would just treat drain soul as an upgrade to drain life through some talent or something.
Give drain soul the healing from drain life, interaction from soul burn and interaction with soul rot and we can call it a day.
my dots being sustained on multiple mobs at once is also a bonus.

It heals for like 10k a tick. We have 6 million hp.

i think blizzard forgot to scale the spell to the current expansion.

It’s definitely the weakest that it’s ever been in all of wow history. The healing is beyond pathetic.

The only use it currently has is to remove spell reflect from a warrior.

The blizzard devs likely didn’t what to do with drain life after adding Demonic Healthstones (though I’m probably giving the Devs too much credit).

Historically, Drain Life wasn’t super useful for Demo or Destro, but now our iconic spell is actually worthless among all three specs. Soul Rot also suffers the consequences of weak Drain Life by spreading a useless channel even further.

IMO, they could add one Soul Shard cost and buff the healing to a flat 10% of Max HP over 3 seconds (spreading it further via Soul Rot should cap it at 30% of Max HP). Similar to DKs’ design with Death Strike self-healing, we’d be sacrificing some damage output to self-sustain, which I think is fair. To compensate, they could reduce Demonic Healthstones’s healing to balance things out. It feels strange to have such strong, bursty healthstones and a weak drain life.

Drain Life healing for a fixed health percentage is much easier to balance long-term IMO

It doesn’t

Tbh the spell might be (intentionally) bricked/bugged. It doesn’t even top you up in old content anymore

I don’t think asking for the spell to heal more than 10-50k per tick on 7m+ health is too much to ask for

As it currently stands you probably get more sustain throughput by just dpsing via soul leech

Actually, it does have one use. If you’re in legacy content, its damage gets a huge buff and thus the heal also gets a huge buff. While you shouldn’t be taking a lot of actual damage in those dungeons/raids, it can help you offset the life loss from Burning Rush. It’s most useful to do this on bosses since it seems to only heal you for actual damage dealt and does not consider overkill damage.

my guess: it’s been intentionally forsaken (nerfed) due to delves & our solo’ing capabilities, and it shall remain this way for while sadly.

That’s my guess too. Unfortunate, I guess it is another case of:

“we’d rather you didn’t play demonology use drain life”

They nerfed the voidwalker’s threat and soul leech seems to be nerfed too. In general, I feel kind of like an emo mage right now and will be unsubbing right after the 20th anniversary event.

It’s acting as if it’s not scaling to the new expansion.

And if is in fact to do the with delves. Well that’s just gross.
