Any chance Dracthyr can expect further customization options in the future?

Before everyone jumps down my throat, yes, I realize that technically, they currently have more “options” than any other race in game. However, few of these options actually do anything to truly affect the way the character looks. Examples:

  1. Both male and female have the exact same dragon models. I realize dragons are a fantasy creature, but it still makes absolutely zero sense for there to be no physical difference between male and female in a species.

  2. The male human faces are very effeminate, and most of the female rather masculine, and there really is nothing you can currently do to change this. Big nose, small nose. No eyebrows, groomed eyebrows, and caterpillers. These are your options for facial customization. Not a fan of the female body or voice either.

With so many options to choose from, it would be nice if less emphasis was placed on redundant markings (do you want spots on your nose? Do you want spots further up your nose? Those are literally 2 different ‘options’) and more on options that actually alter your appearance in a noticeable manner like height, weight, and facial features.

I agree. And Alexstraza as a dragon is big, bulky and ugly.

Now I play female character as a female myself. I love how even Worgen and such look different. I want to be smaller, more “female” looking. Give me some options like eye lashes(how Shrek shows Dragon is a girl) or some other options to make me look girly.

Exactly. It just doesn’t make sense how there is absolutely nothing to differentiate between male and female right now.

Ironically most lizard species, the females are larger than the males. Right now this is just putting human standards of feminine beauty onto lizards, which is how we ended up with the eyelashed chihuahua face of the old female Worgen, lol.

I wish they had height options, and I want one more bulky build, but I’m definitely against eyelashes and snitties being stitched onto a lizard.

Guess you haven’t seen Crested Gecko also known as “eyelash gecko” they are adorable and look to have eye lashes

On one hand, it would be cool for my female to look more feminine.

On the other hand… waves hands at female worgen 1.0 last time fans whined and they did an 11th hour female remake, that’s what we got stuck with. For a decade. I’ll take being a little butch over whatever the heck that was.

Any chance most races will get more since we’ve been waiting how long for that?

Also a very valid point. Female tauren and their whole 4 options say hi.

So I guess you haven’t seen many animals, then.

What is this lizard’s sex?

you have ten seconds to tell me

New interview.

Spoilers: apparently not.

Moving on to a quick question about Evoker, are there any plans to include more armor pieces showing while in dragon form?

This is a really fun topic, you know our art team knocked it out of the park with Evokers in particular. There’s such an incredible amount of customization with them. I’m gonna butcher the number but I’ve heard the trivia item thrown around at the team where there is more Evoker customization options available in terms of combinations they can create, than there are grains of sand on the planet. And I’m like, I don’t know who’s gonna verify that, I’m not going to, but I believe you when you tell me that. Someone did the math I’m sure. So yeah, that’s something that is really important to us, is having all these customization options available to you and being able to really show them off and see them. And with the Evoker in particular, something that we focused on was the question of is what is the most iconic and most visible pieces of armor? Shoulders immediately come to mind, it’s that major silhouette changing, Warcraft has a beloved history of shoulder armor in particular and their scale and size and how big or small they are over time. So that was one we knew we wanted to add there, but we also wanted to make sure that the Evoker’s customization options and their identity of that dragon class, that dragon race was still very noticeable. Certainly something that we could change, but ultimately we’re really happy with where we landed on that one, and we feel like especially with sets coming back and that awesome class fantasy there we wanted to see that represented on the Evokers, but not kind of completely covering up all those awesome dragon aesthetics.

I think this was the intentions for Dracthyr.

Looks at my two new hairstyles and two body colors

I bet if you put a male and female together there ARE physical differences. Whether it’s size, markings, some feature that one has and the other doesn’t.

Doesn’t really answer the question about customizing the actual character though.

i disagree i think they look fine

the faces r fine , i had np making mine cute

He just says that they’re good with where they are, saying that the limits are a philospohical design choice rather than something that can’t be overcome.

I vehemently disagree with that statement.

I honestly think they need to stop making new races and for the love of God give older ones some love, please. Both WoW and XIV are doing this and both shaft the newer races, kinda funny tbh.

For Dracthyr, need another one or two bulkier looks, also beefing up the head size, need more color options for their barbershop armor and I’d really like their /roar to sound more like a worgen, or deeper than that. Wouldn’t mind some more jewelry options too, earrings, rings, necklaces, etc. I don’t care about the visage forms as I’ll barely ever see them, but more for them too for those that like them.

Other races still need a lot more hair styles, straight backs, facial hair, jewelry, tattoos, war paint, skin tones etc…maybe someday…

I agree that the older races do need more customization but they could have easily done both here. I’ve seen so many posts of people asking for the other races to be Dracthyr, it would have been so much simpler to just do that. None of the crappy visage bodies they put in, just give Dracthyr players the option to use their race of choice and add some more customization to those.

As to your comparison with FFXIV, however, I love my Miquote and would honestly be kind of bummed if they vastly changed them.

I mean she’s the queen. she’s supposed to stand out by being big and intimidating :man_shrugging:t6:
