Any Babylon 5 Enjoyers Feel WoW story may be similar?

You had the Vorlons who portrayed themselves as the ultimate “good” race and believed in “Order”. They were the most advance race in the galaxy. And then you had the “Shadows” who directly opposed The Vorlons(Order) and institued Chaos into the galaxy starting wars etc.

Both The vorlons/Shadows manipulated the lesser racers to fight wars for them and they constantly recruited players to there side.

Ultimately I feel the Titans in WOW represent the Vorlons in Babylon 5. They will do anything to control there narrative and have the lesser racers follow them

In Babylon 5 ultimatly the lesser races (humans/Centuri etc) set aside there differences to confront these “God like” aliens making a stand not to pick a side.

I dont know… Seems blizzard has always pulled heavily from other materials and theres just to many similaritys to ignore.

What do you think?

I think it is just a common story trope and that many things tend to run with it. But hey, if they are copying Babylon 5, I would like to request one Bester, please.

Ya for sure. Babylon 5 was grade A story telling and I definately wouldn’t mind if they’re using it as a reference material to guide story points.

Omg I love B5 SO worth seeing it all a few times over and over again. The shadows, what an enemy.

Remains one of my favourites, to this day. My entire family used to sit around and watch it. The CGI was kinda eh, even back then, but the characters make it all worth it.

Edit: Awful was too harsh for the CGI. Awful now, sure, but kinda eh back then would be closer to the truth. Still an amazing show, though.

Sheldon hated this series. Good enough for me.

There is only 5 stories or something like that in the world I believe it was said, every other story is simply a reiteration of those stories. So yes, you are correct.

Babylon 5 started slow but really went out with a bang.

Who are you?

Indeed. Nemesis the Warlock did it really well before B5 was even on the air.

“Youre… EVIL!”
“Don’t sound so surprised. Don’t assume that just because he is evil that I am good. Agents of chaos and order can be either.”

“What do you want?”

I think you’re right (and in fact I thought the same thing while watching Metzen’s presentation at Blizzcon the other day)… Not that it’s a bad thing, far from it, and done well I think it could be a great story. B5 had its good moments, but the Vorlon/Shadow storyline was kind of rushed at the end (“get out of our galaxy” and they DID, they just said buhbye and zap!)

You know, it’s funny. WoW started off as a clone of Warhammer, and Warhammer came out around the same time as Nemesis, back when the Brits were cranking out some stupendously screwed-up stuff.

Chainsaws, big shoulders… this was when what became WoW was germinating across the pond.

I had the exact same thought yesterday.

That said, the Shadows were the villains. There’s no argument that could be made that they weren’t.

I expect they will try a Free Will (Void) vs Obedience (Titan) storyline that will fall flat due to the obvious flaws. Free will is great, but if it is as blood bags for Void creatures to feed off of at their leisure, it’s not a positive end result. Living your life in blissful ignorance that you’re just doing what the Titans want is ultimately, a better life.

Grade F CGI, though.

Only if we get one (1) Vir Cotto.

But now I can’t get it out of my head… the Dragon Isles were our last, best hope for peace…

Vir is amazing. That quiet little guy held together so much, and had wonderful hidden depths of snark.

But you know what I absolutely want? Someone with the gravitas, the presence, the sheer depth of G’Kar.

The post-shadow war stuff was also good (except the telepath crap with byron) and often gets forgotten.
