Does anyone know if there are still streamers out there that are making Affliction work? All the ones I watch (Maldiva, Epicburn, Thugonomicz, Merifqt, etc) are pretty much all destroy, with some demo thrown in for flavor.
I know affliction is the weakest spec in arena, but I’m curious if anyone is making it work. Is it only bad once you get to high rating, or bad across the board? I’m assuming Maldiva or Snutz or other pros could still get 2k+ with Affliction, purely based off skill alone.

even since the nerf to the drain life azerite trait, its rough. Maldiva would probably be ur best bet.
Unfortunately there’s really no reason to play affliction and I haven’t been able to find any streamers making it work.
Affliction:
Cast agony -> corruption -> start casting UA, get kicked and locked out for 6 seconds.
Refresh corruption -> Cast UA, get stunned for 3 seconds.
Refresh agony -> Cast UA, spell reflect, wait 3 seconds.
Refresh corruption -> Cast UA successfully. Healer dispells all your dots. Repeat.
Destruction:
Cast fear -> get kicked -> cast whatever you want because you’ve got 3 schools to cast from and now they have to throw a long cooldown at you to not die.
Yea they need to make affliction have different schools of magic. If they put unstable affliction on a different tier along with unending resolve it would be game changing for affliction. Get kicked on fear NP spam UA in your face. Get kicked on UA no biggie time to fear.
Simple changes like this could greatly improve affliction game play without making them OP imo.
Agreed. I really like the rot playstyle. Just steady pressure that builds until something breaks. In WotLK, you would dot everyone up and then mana drain the healer, making them race to murder you before time ran up and they melted. I’m hoping at some glorious patch in the future, dotting your targets to death becomes possible again.
In order for this to happen though they need to increase the damage that unstable affliction does when dispelled. That way not only does it silence you but its damage is also something to worry about and could either kill you or make you a potential target. They had a good system when you dispelled UA you took damage for how many UAs were on that target. But healers were literally one shotting themselves.
It was hilarious but OP. Just make it have a 30k max hit you have 4 UAs on a target then dispel them all then get ready for that 120k damage coming your way.
This company aggressively conducts nerfs (often heavily handed), but then when a class is in need of repairs, or buffs, does nothing.
Problems that could be hotfixed in a day, remain broken for months.
…Boggles my mind…
