Any advice on not combusting while experimenting?

I’ve done over 100 experiments so far and have only unlocked two of the six flask and five out of the seven potions, but no matter which herb I use, I cannot seem to unlock the rest of them.

I’ve been blown off cliffs, initiated boss fights, and been a general nuisance to most healers by self-detonating twenty times straight…

Any advice?

What I did was keep a mental note to experiment daily. It kinda sucks, but I was able to get the flasks and potions I wanted.
