Any addons that bring back the pre-dragonflight UI?

I’m not a huge fan of the new UI for dragon flight. I know I can click the “classic” option which puts things back where they usually are, but I also want to have the normal casting bar styles and map style etc.

Are there any existing addons that can do this? If not, is this something that it might be possible to create an addon for?

I know many probably won’t mind the update but it matters a lot to me and I would really like the old look back.

ClassicUI @Curseforge is being worked on, but the ETA from the developer is several months. Some assets are gone forever and others need to be completely rebuilt from the ground up.

In the end it will be equivalent to the Legion UI.

Bartender - my UI looks EXACTLY the same as it did yesterday.

I am currently using bartender but lots of things are still looking different for me. Did you have to do anything specific with bartender?

Addons for classic UI is the most ignorant thing I’ve ever heard of in my life. Probably won’t be playing DF because of the UI.

I think this new UI is targeted at the amount of UI addons people use and the popularity of the visual of them. However, not everyone uses Addons to change their UI and like to play where things like the portraits, target, focus target, cast bars, system bars, etc were already at. I used addons for nameplates but never anything that changed the default raid frame even as a Healer, specifically PvP healer.

I think if they were going to change the UI they could have done a lot better with basing it off the old one with some tweaks, instead of copy a popular UI from addons. I have yet to try the Classic option and hope it makes things better. Just tried it, it literally just made everything even worse from what I’ve managed to customize with the new UI and the classic UI, lol there is nothing classic about it. It’s the same thing basically. Maybe The addon for a classic UI has always struck me as something from Classic wow.

I have to also agree with Celadorn, having to use an addon to get the Classic UI is really lame. It’s different if the game gives you an option to revert back to the old UI and actually stick to the fact it’s the old UI. Needing an addon for it is ridiculous.

The new UI does everything the old one did but better. If you liked the old UI, just move everything to where they were and bam, done!

Only thing is, i think some of the issues people have are with art assets that they enjoyed being gone, like the old gryphons or the background for the microbar

otherwise yeah, functionally it’s pretty much the same with some more modularity and customizability out of the box imo.

Yeah that’s what I don’t understand. All these complaints about an objectively better version, it’s crazy.

As a person who has used the default UI since launch I find this new UI absolutely atrocious. It could have easily been a button click to swap back and forth but typical Blizzard is 1 step forward and 15 steps back.

Is that what they told you? What “assets”? If they are talking about art assets you can export those in like 2 seconds from classic wrath

Likely no. This isn’t a facial touch up but an entirely new system coded from scratch. Why maintain two separate code bases when one does everything the previous one does but better and is a strict upgrade?

Apparently one doesn’t do everything better or there wouldn’t be 400 threads about it

It’s more that the only thing people hate more than stagnation is change.

noteworthy issues i’ve seen include greyscale microbars with no option to colour them, leading to less readability,
smaller fonts
inability to move pet hp bar (Was that in the old one?)
and some default ui placements being awkward for those who are absolutely against moving a thing, like the gryphon art blocking the chat box

not accounting for bugs, ofc.

that “better” seems to be a matter of opinion. It’s just clunky looking and not clean no matter how much you fool with it. I guess I’ll wait for some classic UI mods to come out to fix this mess.

This is exactly what my problem is with the new UI. I just want the old style back because I really don’t like the new look and to me it lacks character and feels out of place.

You can literally make it look just like the old UI, I don’t understand the issue.

Well some people seem to have a valid reason for the dislike as they cite text readability as an issue. I have no visual problems so idk if that’s fluff or not :person_shrugging:

People will like what they like in the end
