Anxiety attacks in rbg

Honesly my advice is to practice deep breathing, focus on a mentality reminding yourself its just a game, and increase your exposure to it. The more matches I do the less anxious I get.

It’s entirely possible you have an adverse reaction to adrenaline. I get the shakes too when it’s too much.

I’d lay off the stimulants (IE: Caffeine) and learn to relax. No matter what’s happening one game isn’t that important. Just focus on playing well and enjoying yourself.

rated isn’t fun when you have sh*t like seed and busted pally comps ofc

Most people get stressed out and/or annoyed listening to 9 dudes screaming random callouts on discord for 15 minutes straight.
When you start freaking out, use the buddy system.
Pick a trustworthy DPS on your team and make an assist macro.
That way if you’re on the wrong target, at least you know you’re not the only one

As a woman, I am terrified of getting to the mmr that requires voice. Getting yelled at by men for not performing well in a game does not seem fun or helps my anxiety.

Try burning off little bits of energy. When you have a second, raise your hands above your head, and vocalize, roar like a lion or murloc. That helps me anyway. Sometimes it’ll get me to laugh and loosen up a bit too.

I get pretty excited in arena and rbgs. Like Increased heart rate and such. Only when its really close or a really tough match. But if you’re having legit anxiety attacks, maybe take a break. Or try not to get so invested. Its not good for ya.

Im pretty much the same way up until melee is training healers in the back or calling for dispels from root beams or asking for innervate. Other then that im quiet, don’t want to muddy the coms

I remember in WoD trying to heal when the horde was at a disadvantage. The alliance would train me even if it cost them the game. I’d have to stop after a couple of BGs because my eyes dried out from not blinking.

Calm down, its just a BG’ like any other. Sure its got rating attached but who cares because WoW’s PVP cannot be taken seriously any more since Blizzard does a poor job at policing cheaters.

Also the remaining “serious” crowd of PVP’rs is very small, and so what you are faced by mostly are teams rated highly (if they are there yet) but are for all intended description utter crap. (this does not discount the 1 or 2 actually good teams that do exist.

Point is, because WoW’s PVP has been demoted to a “side game” because some PVE developers bed time story dictated it to be so, now that’s just the way things are and the result is you are playing a game that’s not to be taken seriously and only designed to be amusing at best.

How to mellow out.

  1. Repeat to your self “This is only a BG, so who cares”
  2. don’t beat your self up over mistakes, instead learn from them so that you can play better individually and as a team.
  3. Do not play with people who are taking RBG too seriously. IF you have someone in charge who’s screaming or berating others in chat or Discord then you don’t need to play with those idiots, they are bad, and you will become like that if you keep playing with and around people like that.
  4. When all else fails form your own team, do some research on how to RBG lead in a chill, calm, decisive way, and always be willing to listen to your team mates and their ideas. Sometimes they will surprise you with thing you never have seen, read or know could be done.
  5. NEVER EVER CHEAT!
  6. Have a nice day!

I honestly think you should leave the game for at least a few months, or forever if you’re getting that worked up. You might want to consider some type of physical activity to burn off some of that nervous tension. Talking with a mental health professional will help too.

I get extreme anxiety in arenas/rbgs. I actually get dizzy and my face gets all numb/tingly, I’ve been struggling with anxiety for most of my adult life now so I know how you feel. I find that I hold my breath when things get stressful. Check to see if you find yourself doing that, it’s helped me a bit to find the issue and fix it. Splash cold water on your face inbetween matches also, if I don’t I will probably pass out. Good luck in your future games my dude!

I can relate. I used to get the same feeling in arena. I’d have a match where two people are going in on me and I’m scrambling for dear life to use a CD, or whatever, kite, LoS but my brain isn’t working because I’m panicking. My heart will race, my adrenaline pumps and when it’s all over I feel like I just got done at the gym.

Mostly it came from a place of ‘I don’t want to mess up and have people rage at me.’ Eventually you A. learn people are gonna rage no matter what sometimes, who cares. and B. you get used to high-pressure situations.

Keep at it, you’ll get over it eventually.

^ This.

I’ll talk in Disc if/when needed but I feel super weird about hopping into a voice chat with strangers and talking.

I think a lot of it is I’m 34 and I feel like most people I group with are a lot younger. They all use slang terms I don’t understand, etc. Makes me feel like the weird old dude at a high school party. Lol
