Anxiety and Forced Dungeon Content

This is why people hate me around here . lol

Never heard of ya

Hard disagree, you don’t need the best gear if you’re not going to do the content it was designed for. Group players at the highest level absolutely should be rewarded for the hard team work it requires at that level of play and nothing you say can possibly sway me and most other people away from that stance.

I agree and advocate however that solo gear should be at the very least heroic level gear available from rares, world quests, events etc…that would let solo people gear up almost to the top but not quite.

It should NEVER be normal. Scaling sucks.

As a fellow person that suffers from an anxiety disorder, I’ll quote my therapist “anxiety can be overcome”

Just do it man, it’s not pleasant being pushed out of your comfort zone. Trust me I know more than you realize, but you’ll be better for it. Pug an LFG for the quest, no one cares if you screw up. And if they do, screw them.

Yea when BFA started I wiped out 3 horde lvl capped as a fresh lowbie with legion lfr gear and leggos lol.

If you have an anxiety disorder that inhibits you from playing online with other people then MMORPG might not be the best choice for you. You may want to consider a game like Skyrim or consider focusing on other aspects of WoW that can be performed single player like PvP, battlepets, achievement hunting, transmog runs and roleplay. You can easily watch livestreams and youtube videos of endgame content and wait to experience it as a singleplayer when the next expac is out, no one is forcing you to participate in it.

Well don’t get me wrong. You can scale up your gear like PVP scales up it’s gear for PVP. Your gear can scale up for higher keys.

But actual static gear that stays the same in the world – that should not be gated behind group play anymore.

While there should be a difficulty increase as gear increases, taking that to the 1 percentile and taking your progression along with it is bad design. Power progression in an MMO should always be time/effort + competence = power. Being a master of dance dance revolution in the third person to a minuscule percentile is bad design.

Save that stuff for titles and achievements.

Also, just because there isn’t that difficult of solo content in the game currently does not mean it is impossible to create. In fact you can even have NPC parties you somewhat control. Other games are even doing this now. It is the future.

Also, simply bringing out raid bosses to the open world and having people learn the mechanics there without having to commit to a group and open themselves up to potential abuse is a better way to go about raiding.

You mean like, unlike you, he should do something more constructive with his limited entertainment time available than pay Blizzard to play videogames?

Why is it all the toxic trolls come out when someone mentions some medical condition they got and asking for something to be changed? This thread reminds me of all the dragonriding medical issues and the hatred lol
Most of you really should avoid these
type of threads cause your never positive blowing of someone’s issue or constantly starting arguments in these type of threads good job.

Yeah, this is kind of true. I’m a New Yorker, and I do this to people, I fully admit. My people ask me for assistance on something and if it’s something super trivial, I’ll be sitting there doing it for them while explaining how they do it, and being like “asking me to come out here and do this nonsense” blah blah blah lol.

Ah man that’s really… out of line.

To the original point. Wait a couple of months. People will still be running Normals, but lots of people will over gear it. By a lot. At that point everything is going to melt and people won’t even care if one of the DPS isn’t really doing much.

Just run along behind the tank. Cast spells when you can. Dungeon will be over in a few minutes and you can be done with the dungeon quest.

In BfA and the first part of SL I only ran dungeons if it was required for a quest. I just waited until 4 to 6 months into the expansion and queued up. Some dungeons, stuff died so fast I couldn’t even get casts off on my mage. All I had to do was just truck along and follow the tank. (That was when I finally removed my tank assist macro as a DPS.)

Finally - not every dungeon group is gonna be go, go, go. In the guild my Paladin is sitting in, we have been running guild members thru normals and picking up 1 or 2 pugs when we can’t fill the group. With at least 3 of us we set the tone and our runs are pretty chill. Someone doesn’t like it, they can leave. We are there to clear quests and have fun. Maybe learn something on the way.

Best of luck out there!

Hit me up ingame OP. Is this your main toon? We’re Alliance, but if I get a request from you, I’ll go.

I also have anxiety and panic disorder. I get it. I don’t pug for the same reason. It’s not worth it. So. We’re very nice people. You can come talk to me on comms first if that helps. We’ll get you in there so you can finish your quest lines.

Any time. Open invite. Let me know. If your main name is something different, let me know here. /hugs

Roleplay is quite people involved, so that’s not really an ideal option unless you meant like writing stories or something? Also not trying to throw shade at the whole RP community, but there’s some really unhinged RPers. I used to do forum based RPs and there’s so much drama… for no reason lol…

Again we’re never going to agree on this topic but I will say that currently as you stated other games do offer that so people looking for that have a choice, while people like me can continue to support Blizzards current stance on this subject and keep it the way it has always been here.

I did not read every reply here but what exactly was toxic?

Other games don’t offer lots of good things wow does. It’s not a reason to quit. But wow should be pulling from good ideas other games have – and the community. And of course forums are a good place to advocate for such things.

I’d be happy to get a group of my friends/guildies together to help you with this. Everyone’s super nice and chill  Nobody should miss out on content because they’re afraid to get yelled at by strangers in a dungeon <3

You’re taking it too personal, it’s not toxic trolling to say maybe an MMO isn’t the best place for someone with social anxieties issues but they are still more than welcome to play but don’t expect the game to be redesigned to fit the needs of someone like that because again it’s an MMO and there are many countless other games out there that would better fit the needs of someone with a condition as you put it like that.

As I recall there were a lot of us advocating for regular flying to already be added back into the game for people who simply don’t like dragon riding or can’t because of medical issues etc…it’s a lot different than removing group content because someone has social issues and decides to play an MMO of all things.

Very true, though most of us disagree here on lots of things it’s always good to have discussions like these ones even if people take it too personal because as you said sometimes good ideas can come from them and no one should ever be scared to voice their opinion no matter how unpopular, I do it all the time and at worst people hate you for it but who really cares lmao.
