I actually literally said 10 years about 30 minutes ago. Because we all know if Blizzard doesn’t FOMO this, then you sure won’t be solo clearing it any time in the forceable future.
We only know that we’ll be able to use either, not that current mounts will be able to do either, hell they can’t even keep the customization on my azure drake when I did Kalimdor/EK races.
The list of mounts it’s linked to is already pretty massive. Lots of old mounts both dragon and otherwise. Given that Anu’relos with our current flying options is both a dragonriding mount and a druid flight form it already does do both.

Everything cool except for that weapon. Yay, Win! For the Strength Club Members! For each time the axe gets used Malfurion gives a cry for Tyrande to save him.
I might be cynical, but I won’t hold my breath. If they had intended dragonriding mounts to be usable outside of the Isles, with the old flying, I feel like they would have already.
On the flipside, do you think Blizz would start working on converting 100+ existing mounts to be Dragonriding compatible if they intended to lock them to and abandon them on the Dragon Isles?

Apparently, they’re already working on gryphons, with the CE mount for the next expac seemingly being one, and possibly to give parity between the Horde and Alliance since Wyverns already share a skeleton with the Wylderdrake.
IMO, I expect they’d branch to other widely-used skeletons like Hippogryphs, Coursers, and Cloud Serpents first, then skeletons that are used less but still popular, like Mechs, Birds/Ravens, Carpets, etc.
who cares about drakes if people spent a lot of gold on more important mounts
mechs should have their own launch system where you launch and dont have to skyward ascent because theyre powered by rockets
Since they’re goblin tech they should also have a good chance of flying you into the side of a mountain and killing you.
It won’t go for cheap… better start buying tokens now.
I dunno, felt like dragon fit with dragonriding more than a machine…

It’s there so:
- some employees can fudge engagement stats on raiding. If something gets worked on but not touched then corporate will chew you out. Mythic Raiding is dead content not worth playing timegate over, but some employees have done their final double down on trying to troll players to keep touching it.
- Monetize wow token harder via pay to avoid playing boosting.

Mythic only mounts are older than tokens. I might be cynical, but I know at least that… and beside the mount doesn’t disappear, it just becomes a 1% mount like all the others.
I have plenty of Gold for sure to pay for a carry to obtain the mount. The only mount I wanted which I never bought because I’m too cheap to spend my gold was the Reins of the Grove Warden mount. Though, for this Mythic mount, I may just part ways with some gold.
