That’s how I feel after doing the War Campaign. The animations are great and are absolutely gorgeous, but the fight didn’t last long enough, and Sylvanas getting away again with everyone standing around and doing nothing is hilariously stupid.
Why can’t we have another Lord Godfrey? He didn’t even give her a chance to finish her speech before he shot her in the head lmfao.
Better yet, why didn’t the Alliance or Saurfang’s army have any rogues skulking about who could shank her from behind? Valeera could have done it. She’s a rogue! I feel at this point that her plot armor is so thick it’s ridiculous.
Saurfang was one of the more interesting characters for me, and I get the parallels made between him and his son, but Sylvanas is not Arthas–she shouldn’t command that kind of power to just easily slice him up like he’s some kind of noob who can’t play his class.
With Arthas we see an entire story on how he gains his powers and his inevitable fall from a righteous Paladin into the Lich King. With Sylvanas, we know she’s been scheming for years, but her sudden powers are all gained “off camera” and we never see (even on Horde side) just how she gains them. There’s no journey. There’s just random stuff added to make her powerful just for the sake of it because that’s what the writers want I guess.
It’s also remarkably vague on where she got her powers from. N’zoth? Death? Azshara? Helya? Why so much vagueness? >_>
Also as a side note, why was the bit with Calia so short? If you are someone who just plays the game and not read the books, it’s so weird seeing her there and not even being able to ask her how she came back lol.
That’s also something I found interesting, but to be fair, no true fighter is simply stuck to close range or ranged combat. Sylvanas has been shown before to have used close-ranged weaponry in multiple cinematics, so I didn’t find that particularly strange. What’s more strange is how she wasn’t blown back by the weight of not only Saurfang’s weapons but of his raw strength as well. She should have easily slid back or get pushed down pretty low.
Inevitable? There were like dozens of ways he could have saved his people without genociding them all. Cleanse magic, Resurrection spells, Night Elf moon powers. He had options.
It baffles me somehow Sylvanas can hold back Saurfang.
I dont mean beat him in a fight. That’s still a bit sketchy because how does a ranged fighter win against a warrior but she ended up cheating so whatever.
Im talking about how Sylvanas somehow can hold Saurfang’s axe in place with her block, WITH EASE, and that axe does not move an inch closer to her face.
Look at saurfang. A hardened warrior, a mountain of pure orcish muscle.
Then look at Sylvanas. A hardened ranger, rangers that focus on agility and being dexterous rather than pure strength, having the body of the average runway model with the added bonus of being a rotting corpse.
You cannot and will not convince me that sylvanas can out-brute strength Saurfang, OR ANY Orc for that matter, with such ease. I call BS. Thats like a house cat holding back a rhinoceros.
Also as a side note, why was the bit with Calia so short? If you are someone who just plays the game and not read the books, it’s so weird seeing her there and not even being able to ask her how she came back lol.
It’s like the Alliance having a High King. WHY is Anduin High King, again? Remember when the devs, in response to Story Forum backlash during MoP, specifically stated that the High King wasn’t a hereditary title, and not just a Blue Warchief? Hmm.
The story team realises the lightforged Calia story element is immensely unpopular with certain hardcore fans of the lore, but they are not willing to change course. So they’re going to - for now - deny the obvious intent (lightforged Calia becoming the new Forsaken leader) while continuing to slip that story thread, thinly, into the story by increments.
Blizzard has left those major unpopular story elements unspoken and taken for granted. Story depth, continuity and lore integrity are all sacrificed to avoid the brunt of the forum backlash that will ensue from unpopular writing. But by refusing to give those major story elements the attention and development they desperately need, they give up the chance of winning the critical hardcore fans over with skillful and satisfying writing. Lose, lose!
It was more they played off the elvish speed agility unmatched that was created from other works like LoTR.
Add in the fact shes a banshee saurfang shouldnt have been able to wound her to begin with; especially with the opener cinematic she destroyed a siege tower solo dodged arrow shots etc.
The fact you think my comment is “everything sucks” because Saurfang died just goes to show you failed to read my entire post. I have way more issues with the entirety of the situation than just Saurfang dying.
Also, no not really? She only got magic OP powers this expansion. Why would an Undead elf automatically be more powerful than an orc? lol They’re both combat masters. There’s no reason why the fight was as short as it was. The whole fact he got one shot after exposing her also bugged me as well. It’s not even the problem that it’s him: it’s the fact she has the power to do that which is irritating lol.
Lmfao is this ever true! I do think though that the writers are pretty stubborn. They do try to brush under the rug some unpopular stuff, but we still have this whole Sylvanas plot which is hugely unpopular yet they keep going with it anyway lol
