Incredibly odd topic here, but I can’t be the only one feeling a bit… tired of the concept. We’ve got The Suicide Squad, Suicide Squad, Creature Commandos, now the Thunderbolts, now they’re saying they’ll maybe make a Creature Commandos movie.
Look, this was a fun concept once. I feel James Gunn did it right with his Suicide Squad movie, but maan did this bizarre subgenre get oversaturated in like five minutes. Thunderbolts and Creature Commandos might not even be bad, but, can we do something else for a bit? I don’t care about your dark humor and your buddy emotions, we’ve seen it all before, and how the quirkiest one or the most silent is the “Heart of the movie”.
Can we do something different?! Does it have to feel samey? I know the saying “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” but, i’m not the kind of person who enjoys knowing the Fifth Element and Heavy Metal are basically the same movie! Can’t there be some creativity?
You make the first entry to the new “DCU” another stupid suicide squad thing, after in no fault to it (covid was going strong then so theatres weren’t packed) the last one did GOD AWFUL!
I don’t know, weird gripe, I may come around to it all eventually, just needed to offload this, it’s been eating at me. The concept’s fun, I guess, but it’s being overdone.
At least with stuff like Creature Commandos you can get a bit more violent compared to live action.
James Gunn has his formula and if folks like it, cool.
