Anti-aliasing options are not working correctly

MSAA isn’t remembering it’s settings between launches and you have to set it to none, then back to what you want, before it will stick. Not sure if it survives a /console gxrestart (didn’t check, but I just thought about it)

CMAA2(not CMAA) is broken and creates a terrible dithered checker pattern on alpha masked things like grass:

Some notes and things I’ve tested:

  • Checked to make sure that config.wtf isn’t read-only
  • Tested on slider 1 through 10
  • VRS off for all testing
  • /console gxrestart here and there to see if maybe it would fix things
  • Cleared the %localappdata%\D3DSCache and %localappdata%\AMD caches
  • No other apps using hardware acceleration
  • No overlays
  • No background apps
  • I tried unchecking Optional Features, but it removes CMAA2 from the pool of options
  • Happens on both DX11 and DX12
  • Made sure I’m at 100% resolution
  • Not using any reflex-like options
  • Tried seeing if RT shadows were causing a problem, no changes between off vs high
  • Nothing wrong with temperatures or anything like that

Specs:

  • Windows 11 25H2 up to date
  • AMD 7900xt with 25.11.1 drivers
  • Intel 13600KF

click none first, then hit apply. Then hit the settings you want again. This is an old fix I found on reddit

Oh my goodness, thanks for this post! For the past 2 days I thought I was going crazy. Everything looked so choppy and ugly, I thought it was an issue with my GPU. Setting everything to none and apply fixes until you relog. Hopefully Blizz fixes this soon.

I’m having the same problem with anti-aliasing not activating. I have to mess around with the settings and reset them in order for it to turn on. However when you relog the anti-aliasing does not work again. Rinse and repeat. Pretty annoying.

I am having the exact same issues. I figured out the temp fix that was posted all on my own. I hope they address this soon.
