Another week still horrible latency and input lag

So I get that it isn’t happening to everyone, but I see enough people posting very similar stories to mine to think we haven’t all just totally messed up or imagined it.

Short version was at like 40ms two weeks ago, even the day of the patch was fine but starting last Friday and including today I am at like 400 world and local latency… I have a noticeable delay pressing abilities and seeing them go off it’s enough to make the game unfun at best… and cause defeat at worst.

I’ve reset the UI, cleared things, checked without addons, I’m hardwired in and nothing with my internet has changed.

I’m open to any more suggestions but I really think it is at least partially, or majority on Blizz end and it’s frustrating that they haven’t really acknowledged it.

Download a VPN, Express VPN has a free trial, and see if it helps.
If it does, then somewhere somehow your ISPs routing has changed for the worse.

I did that last week it didn’t have any impact. Thank you though for the suggestion

You can test your network by doing a search on “network speed test”. There are several internet products there that will let you test your connection. I’m running on XFinity. I just ran the test and I’ve got a ping rate of 13, download 566Mbps and upload 34.89 Mbps.

I’m not seeing the lag.

I did that as well ran it three times through the day ping was between 12-14, download was round 800 and upload was 28

Check with your ISP. Could be a cable issue (not your cable).

Thanks, I just don’t think it is on my end for a few reasons.

1.I have changed nothing on my end.

  1. I can still play two other online games, multiplayer games, with no difference in performance from last week to now.

  2. My test numbers for speed, ping, packet loss are all the same now as they were the last time I recorded them about a month ago and WoW was fine at the time.

The one thing that makes me doubt myself is that it starts low like 80 when I log in (still higher than before but that’s fine) and it goes to 200 in about 5 minutes, then 400 5 minutes later.

Have you tried the game with new WTF and cache folders? Rename WTF to WTF_old and delete cache. Restart the game. If no change, change WTF back.

Just know that WTF holds all of your add-on settings so these will be reset.

Edit: I don’t want to jynx myself but it seems it was on my end and if so I will totally own it. I did two things at once, first repaired WoW through the bnet but also unplugged our internet for about 10 minutes.

Again I don’t want to jynx myself but it SEEMS normal gain thank you for all who tried to help.

Yeah I actually did that yesterday prior to maintenance, during maintenance I wiped battle net and all Blizz games from my PC and then reinstalled just WoW retail.

Put my old WTF folder and interface folder back into WoW after it came up.
