I am getting worried to be honest. The changes were announced on July 14th…

It is always a let down when no new news come for DKs when alpha is updated. I am holding out hope it is because they are making major improvements with 2h FDK, UHDK and General tree.
I feel bad for Demon Hunters lol. They have had it the worst by far. I dont know what regular hunters did to get so much attention but it must be nice!
I agree. Though at this point I’m about to just give up on keeping hope. I want dks to have great changes. And if they do, then I’ll be happy. But with the lack of communication and seeing how others *warrior for example, are getting great changes and consistent communication… It just feels bad.
But you never know, maybe dk is going to have some great stuff and it did just take a while.
This is the part that is worrying. Comms with hunters, warriors, etc and several build updates shows some devs are more on the ball than others.
Once upon a time I may have given benefit of the doubt, and I’m hoping I eat my words on this but I really think they are struggling with unholy /DKs in general. Which is all the more frustrating given the mountains of ideas available in this sub forum.
With how long this is taking, it had better be a ground-breaking revision
Arms warrior with all its sustain allowing me to cosplay a blood dps looks better and better each passing day tbh.
I switched from warrior to dk and back and forth many times before.
Currently, warrior looks to just be miles ahead of dk and it isn’t even close.
I feel bad leacing the dk because of all the mogs I have, old and new mage tower and more. I even hve 2 dks max Alliance and Horde. And the idea of DK thematically is top tier. At this point it feels like I am holding on more so for nostalgic reasons.
This DK is going to be a warrior main once more unless the chsnges are actually good. I hope I am proven wrong.
That being said, Demon hunter tree comes out next week and it wouldn’t surprise me if it is actually better than ours. If we don’t have changes by then I am officially done with caring.
I had zero expectations once I saw the initial trees. People who thought they were going to fix them because it’s still alpha have their head in the sand. Blizzard flat out ignored feedback for the last two expansions so I’m not sure why everyone thought this would be different.
The entirety of the DK trees are just buying back what we already have. The general tree is just boring, Unholy has nothing new (and the final row talents are still trash), 2h Frost needs to spend every point just to make the spec work.
I’m playing Warlock at this rate. Affliction and Destruction trees sacrifice nothing of their current kits and have a lot of new and fun choices.
Maybe if half of us quit playing dk, they will fix it. (High on copium)
I don’t really expect significant changes at this point.
I’ll just work with what I have along with explore options. Because unfortunately, and this is just my opinion, there are better classes to main than this one.
The biggest problem is the discrepancy between classes. Some of the talent trees are downright boring (DK, Mage), while other classes (Warlock, Warrior), seem to be getting more.
Now for some classes like Mage it’s really hard to feel much sympathy because they’ll probably be S tier like every expansion, but for a more middle tier class like DK it stings.
Agreed.
I saw the monk trees, and wow. Monk looks really cracked. So good. Even the datamined Havoc DH stuff looks promising.
It just makes me sad I suppose. I want dks to feel fun and engaging and have real choice in their trees ect. Atm it just isn’t doing that at least for myself personally.
Just saw the Monk trees, I’m happy for them but I’m still salty compared to what we’re getting.
Exactly my point. All these other classes for the most part, look so promising and fun and new in a way. While what do we get? Just feels bad.
Yeah theres alot in the WW monk tree that looks fun as a first draft… SotWL, the entire right side of the tree looks juiced, serenity for a more pet-less style, very engaging gameplay from combining mastery and a few new talents IE teachings of the monastery… or you can even opt out of that playstyle and go for the bonedust brew, dance of chi-ji playstyle that already exists.
That is a valid concern. Theres a reason the assassination tree is looking damn good and polished (with a few exceptions). The dev actually spends time communicating with the rogues on discord who are testing and providing feedback.
Silence like this is not a good sign, but like I said before I really hope I’m wrong and I hope DK sets the new precedent when the next tree rolls around. I don’t have my hopes up though right now.
Liquid Max said in one of his videos/stream that the DK dev apparently doesn’t like to be in the spotlight or engage with the community… Which is fine, but I would think providing updates to Blizzard internal so a CM could at least update the community would be part of the job. It would be OK if Blizzard’s track record the last couple expansions was good, or the track record for DK design was good, but they haven’t been.
There is a clear haves and have nots in the new talent trees. Some classes got a lot of things baseline, lots of abilities and talents from previous expansions brought back, lots of legendaries and covenant abilities added to the trees, and some conduits and PvP talents moved over. I think DKs are in the have nots category so far.
The equivalent treatment for DK, that some classes are getting, would be if, say:
I would never expect all of that, and the rune rework (i.e. removing death runes) likely screwed over Necrotic Strike ever being compelling again, or allowing death siphon to exist, but you get what I mean. And we know Dark Sim is problematic.
It felt silly to write out that dream filled list, but it really is what other classes are getting. Those classes’ talent trees may not always be organized in the most convenient way, but at least the options are returning.
Also, Death Siphon wasn’t good for the game. But many of the abilities returning for other classes weren’t good for the game either.
I’m fine with the people in charge of DK not communicating as long as our trees are as good as the other classes.
I mostly just want more baseline abilities and to have some of the current talents moved around to be more accessible. Besides that the final talent row in Unholy is really bad after seeing the Warlock and Monk trees.
Ah, so there is literally only one dev. Makes sense they would want to stay incognito because they probably know the class isn’t very well-received.
That final talent row is underwhelming as can be.
I like to do that a lot but I use a lot of macros to replace icons for my abilities so it fits even more!
Look at the vitriol on the Paladin forums affee they removed Long Arm of the Law and explained they wanted Paladins to not be mobile but instead apply immobility (like DKs). And between the feedback of “We should have our blessings/aura/utility baseline” and the toxicity they throw at the developers, it’s surprising there have been any changes at all
If I was a developer I wouldn’t communicate directly with this game’s community. Quite frankly, the playerbase can say “Blizzard never listens” but it’s really mostly just poor feedback from them & getting mad that Blizzard doesn’t share the same vision for X as them.
I’d like it if the community manager just let the DK playerbase know if there’s anything the pipeline other than the Unholy changes. I’d rather have a little hope then absolutely none but that seems unlikely.
