OK, so I know there have been several posts about the new Warparty character selection screen but I think this may be a different take on it that could help get a system that works for everyone.
The War Party is a great implementation. It is modernizing the game, even if just in a few areas right now but it has room for growth and that is a good thing.
One improvement that could be made to the login screen, is to allow players to make “Groups” to help sort their army of alts. These groups should also be collapsible to allow people to hide the characters they do not play and do not want to play at that time. The system appears to be in place since the top four are “Favorites” already. This small change would improve the lives of every player and get rid of the complaints the current design has such as “I have too many characters on this screen”, “it is too busy” and “I cant find my character in the army I have created out of boredom”. Hopefully this post can get a little bit of traction and get a blue post response with a “chance” of implementation.

I pulled my 4 from the favorite section, to try to make it look like before. Why is everything so freaking big?
And yes, I would like more grouping options, that I can name and manage. A toggle to separate servers would be the my biggest request.
More options would be nice. I had my alliance on one server and my horde on another, and although I moved them all around on this huge list, it’s still a huge list I have to scroll down. I was originally hoping they’d keep the servers so I could have 4 alliance around the camp and 4 horde around the camp, but alas it was not meant to be. Maybe in the future when they implement more backgrounds, maybe we’ll be able to do more groups of favorites, so you’d have your first group of 4, then another, then another, with different backgrounds.
Aside from that, I did move my characters around into the order I had them before, most used, then mostly level order underneath, to those I’ve barely touched at the bottom. It’s not THAT difficult to scroll, I had to scroll before on each server, it just takes a bit longer to scroll now. I do use the search function at the top sometimes, and it’s fun to put in “hunter” and see all of my hunters in one list, but overall I don’t use it when I’m trying to decide which alt I’m going to hop on with.
I’m sure there will be changes or updates to it in the future, they’ve already said more backgrounds are coming at least.
I hope we also get the option to have more than 4, even if a couple are in the background leaning against things. Would also like them sitting on chairs or logs or something and maybe a few hunter pets or battle pets roaming around. Looking forward to whatever they end up doing.
This is exactly what I did too, Alliance farmers on 1 server, Horde farmers on another, and then the toons I actually play were on a different one.
If they let the players create sorting tabs almost every complaint would go away.
