Another store mount

Carhagen, one of these days, make a toon on my server, come see me, and Ill buy you a drink :grinning:

P.S Hope you like Pandaren ale.

What’s worse are the whales in this thread defending this. Why bother fixing the game, when Blizzard can just print money by releasing mounts on the store? As more and more people unsub and leave because this ā€œgameā€ isn’t a game anymore, what we’re left with are these Blizzard sycophants who will eat turd sandwiches and ask for seconds.

Truly, the player base that Blizzard wants and deserves. You all enjoy your ā€œgameā€ (which is now just an online shopping simulator), while the rest of us move on.

Somebody haven’t been keeping an eye on the last 10 years of video gaming. Do you remember unlockable costumes back in the old days? remember the tux from metal gear solid? and how that turned into DLC for phantom pain? And don’t get me started on 10 dollar save slots in Metal Gear Survive. That’s just one game franchise off the top of my head that went from somewhat acceptable (Granted, it’s just a dollar for the tux.) to just downright unacceptable with it’s monetization schemes.

Then there’s Overwatch, which, the less i say about that game’s monetization schemes, the better.

Most definitely. I can’t help but to get irritated when I stop to think how wow used to be and how much fun I used to have compared to what Blizzard has done with BFA. WoD holds a special place of hate in my heart because that’s what started the war on flying but BFA is the lowest and worst wow has ever been.

How, exactly?

Because you already pay $15 a month for this game, this mount should’ve been an in-game reward. Instead, they release it as a store mount, because even if just 1 person buys it, they make more money than if they had just shown love to their player base. Blizzard-Activision doesn’t appreciate us; we’re just whales to be milked.

It’s gross, and transparent.

Exactly. It’s a F2P business model with a premium cost and subscription model. The bare-bones in-game experience is now a platform to squeeze more $$ out of customers.

Yup. I’ve heard it described as an ā€œonline shopping simulatorā€ now, and that description is apt.

There’s a reason why Wall St analysts are downgrading ā€œtriple-Aā€ publisher stocks lately. Apparently, outside of your core of vocal white knights, most people aren’t interested in porting Candy Crush shopping into a full price game.

Its kinda sad to see people defending store mounts in a paid/subscription game.

Its kinda sad watching people get bent out of shape over how others decide to spend their money.

Maybe don’t take it as a personal attack then. People are complaining about Activision-Blizzard, not Naliene the Night Elf.

What? Do you honestly think that this cost us a raid tier or a new zone? Probably two or three artists and an animator or two got together, sketched it out, and then took one or two days to get it all together before the devs patched it in and queued it up to go.

Because cosmetic items have absolutely no effect on game play. Are you denied the ability to enter a raid for not having a cosmetic mount? Are you denied Mythic+? PvP? Any other game content? No, you’re not.

For all you know too, Blizzard is having new employees do these things as an onboarding process.

You you don’t like it, vote with your wallet and quit telling other people what to do or not do.

And if you actually played the game historically you’d also know that they were a huge advantage back in the day.

How much gold is that right now?

It’s $25.00 which is 1.66 tokens?

So that’s 1.66 x the current token price, which is maybe 120000 gold per token right now?

So… ~195000 gold, is that right?

Somebody correct or verify for me please.

Because my girlfriend will think that pig is cute…

The amusing thing is the execs over at ActiBlizz don’t seem to comprehend that store mounts would go over a whole lot better if equal effort was put into the mounts added through in-game means and it’d add more content that people may care about.

Yea. How dare blizz try to make more money.
How dare they!

It is a purely cosmetic item. No one has to buy it (even if it is cute and edible) or even spend real money (you do remember tokens).

What’s even more amusing is how people ignore the mounts that are obtainable in the game and focus on a store mount because they need something to crow about.

I dunno whether you have noticed but there are heaps of mounts to be earned ingame. During this expansion alone they have thrown mounts at us like confetti.

A great many games have shops and many of them sell mounts. ESO (which currently operates on a free and sub basis) has an extensive shop that regularly releases mounts. They even put pressure on you by making them limited time, so if you like it and you miss it, tough luck, its gone for good. They also offer the purchase option of cash or game resources. And as far as I remember, there are no mounts given to you for free (except the Imperial horse which comes with the Imperial pack). In comparison, Blizzard is extremely generous with its mounts.

I haven’t purchased it myself because I currently have neither the cash nor the gold to spare. I am not denying that more could be done to improve the game and the expansion. Obviously it has problems for many people. But truly, some people get bent out of shape about something that is entirely a matter of choice as to whether or not you buy it and something that can be purchased using ingame gold if you so choose.

That’s time that could have been spent improving the game, adding content to a failing expansion instead of content for the shop.

I’m complaining about the players, too. If it weren’t for these people buying this trash they wouldn’t make it.

Sometimes the players are wrong. Feeding the microtransaction beast is one of those times.
