Another How are Shaman doing posts

I’m thinking of making a Pandaren or Orc Shaman, but wanted to know if they’re doing well in things like mythic for PVE and how viable they are for pvp. I like the 3 roles of monk, but found paladin and druid kinda boring (just for my preference), shaman just doesn’t have a tank spec which is still fine.

Asking because I’ve seen conflicting responses to this depending on where it’s at, so wanted to check for myself. They look like a really fun class, but I never really put the time into them to see. What I like about WW monk is it’s easy to learn and difficult to master.

Pve they fine, pvp too, just enh ain’t doing the best pvp wise with lack of surviving tools against other classes

But with corruption being wild, everything is kinda busted for any content haha.

Shaman is fun atm and we getting big changes in SL, but that remain to be seen how it roll out.

I would suggest to try it out to get a feel of the class and wait for prepatch if you like the class changes to main it next expac.

I personally don’t care for Ele much but I enjoy Enh and Resto quite a lot. Sure, they have some issues but the bottom line is that they are a lot of fun imo.

Thanks! I appreciate the advice

Heyo! I just came back to WoW after 10 or so years recently. I got my Holy Pally up to around 460 and I also have a Shamwow I’m working on.

Elemental is tremendous fun. I felt week after singing 120 and in the 300-350 ilvl range but I’m barely closing in on 400 and starting to feel powerful. Chain Lightning and Earthquake are really awesome AoE and Lavaburst is a fun single target spell to pop off. Visually, all the Shaman spells look super cool af.

I leveled as Resto and still queue Heroic as Resto if the bag is up and it is really fluid and fun playstyle as well. Totally different healing concept that Pally but just as fun.

I will say one thing about Shaman that they feel like they have a higher skill cap to play well. The spells look pretty basic but there are a lot of plates to spin to put out good damage. I guess their a class that you can pick up and do okay but if you put the time into mastering it has a great payoff.

Edit: too add, great utility as well. Capacitor totem is likely underrated as a AOE stun. Earthbind is awesome. Tremor gets plenty of use(the dino boss). We also have Purge, Dispell and Cleanse! And a super short interupt on like a 12 second CD. Between Earth ele and Astral you have 2 huge defensives and needless to mention the OG Bloodlust.

I’m really digging my Shammy and am glad I chose to finally play one.

I love my Shaman. Enh and Resto are tons of fun. For whatever reason, i just can’t seem to enjoy Ele. I think I just don’t like caster dps. For some reason I’m fine with spamming Healing Surge and Chain Heal, but I don’t care for spamming lighting bolt and chain lighting. I really want to like the flame shock/ LB relationship but I don’t like how this very important part of the spec is Single target only. I wish there was a talent or an ability akin to Enh’s Crash Lightning that would enable your Lava Bursts to cleave. This is the problem I have with Master/Echo of the elements too. This is such a fun playstyle for single target but I don’t enjoy it at all for aoe since every other cast is single target.

Shamans look cool, the animations are beautiful and flashy, the sound of thunder, fire, ice, pah, pow, voo…
you get your bis, learn the rotation, execute it perfectly, kill the raid boss. So far so nice.
Then:
You check damagemeter
You dealt 30% less damage than the fire mage/ bm Hunter/ spriest.
Right click on fire mage/ bm/ sp, inspect, he has 17% versatility, 5 lvls below you, 2 corruptions, lvl 2 essences.
Look at your parse at warcraft logs. 96%. 96%? How top 4% elem shaman deals such low damage ?
How ?

If you want to deal damage play shadow priest, mage, warlock, Hunter, uhdk, fury wrr not shaman.
Elem and enh shaman are trash.

That was my main worry, They’re super fun so far and a cool class but I want to deal more damage, either way I’m still going to make one and get to 120 hopefully they buff them more in the future.

I think factoring in the utility of being one helps, BM hunters and fire mages can’t ghost wolf, revive ,self rez or have healing spells. In general I think thats why they make it trade off some of the pure dps of other classes, though i wish it wasn’t so. Even my monk cant heal himself as well as my new shaman unless I’m a healing spec.

I’m not sure how similar Ret Paladin and druid is in terms of dps though i’m guessing they can do more, however I’m sure things can change depending on player skill and situation (gear lvl etc).
