Question - I have been doing PvP on my Dev evoker and multiple times I have used tip + dragonrage into a fire breath and the enemy takes no up front damage. They have no immunity or anything like that. The last person I did it to was a feral druid in caster form casting wild growth. I looked back at the log and it showed no upfront damage, just the dot from fire breath. Has anyone else noticed this? This has happened many times in PvP. I haven’t noticed it in PvE.
I think it always shows up as a DoT in the log. How much damage did the dot do.
There was some issues with cone abilities where it was bugging with camera tilt. But it didn’t affect fire breath, just dream breath.
I think there was like 4-5 ticks for like 9k? When I did the fire breath he visibly took no damage from it. Health did not move.

Possibly could have shadowmelded it.
It was a tauren. Also, it has happened multiple times. 
Firebreath always shows as ‘DoT’ on Details, regardless of how charged up it is. Higher empowerment just makes the first tick bigger. If they take no damage from it, they either had an immunity (like Cloak of Shadows) or you missed. If they take the hit but don’t appear to have taken that much damage, they could have had a strong defensive cooldown running or took damage and healed it back so quickly it would have appeared to have not taken any.
Thanks for the reply. I am aware of all this. I have CD tracking addons and saw no defensive used. They were casting a wild growth (as feral) and right in front of me. I didn’t miss. It’s not that they “didn’t take that much damage” it’s they took no upfront damage.
I will just keep an eye out for it happening again.
