Another "classic" wow ..why?

We already have Classic wow, Season of Discovery, … why are they creating yet another classic wow?

Seems like all these “Classic” wows will just dilute the player count, making the game feel even more dead than it is.

Well you see, Classic WoW wasnt as popular as they hoped. So they came up with a new concept to bring in the masses. They call it, Classic WoW.

Born to be a major hit

We need enough versions of the game that each and every one of us has our own version of the game.

I will not be satisfied until I have World of Warcraft: Myzrym’s Circus.

WoW classic finished, so theyre restarting.

Because it keeps people subbed. And because Classic is more fun when you start fresh with everyone else, vs months later when everybody has already quit.

You can say the same for retail

Because Vanilla Classic is by far the most popular variant of classic there is, and it’s the only one with much staying power and repeatability.

Now that 2019 is into Cata, most classic players have stopped playing because Cata isn’t really classic anymore. Most of them want to go back to classic again (hence the perennial popularity of HC.) but they don’t want to go to an era server because starting a fresh level 1 when half the server is in full t3 with 50k gold isn’t fun.

SoD was kind of a flop. Theres definitely an appetite for Classic+, but SoD wasn’t it. Added content was minuscule and many of the changes were just WotLK abilities lazily tossed in without proper testing.

If I had to guess, I’d say Blizzard is gearing toward a proper classic + release, but it’s going to take time. In the interim classic is in rough shape, so the most cost effective move is to relaunch classic again.

Lmao the fact that there are retail fans like you who feel threatened by a 20 year old game is very funny.

How in the world am i threatened??

People keep saying this…

But I personally think its a pipe dream. Having competing products with actual new content seems unrealistic from a development and resource standpoint.

Great explanation.

Good job.

:beers:

You are literally out here acting like Shooter McGavin seething about Adam Sandler stealing the spotlight.

Again, how in the world do you come to this conclusion?

Why? Because it’s fun! I started up a fresh character today and it was nostalgic and made me happy.

Looking forward to getting back in there and hardcoring it! :muscle:t2: :crossed_swords:

Why you poking the bear?

You just made something up to be mad about.

It’s weekend I get it but you’d be better off raging out in another thread about getting kicked or something, trolls do better there.

Good luck!

Because you are out here trying to convince people that a 20 year old MMO is less popular than the game you play.

Your ego is clearly very fragile.

Why you poking the bear.

I’m not. I’m just laughing when retail players need to bash a 20 year old game to make themselves feel better.

So coming from experience with “classic” reset servers, we’ll do a little history lesson:

EQ started with progression servers. Holly Longsdale headed those projects. After the game had been out and progressed so far, they went back to “vanilla” and opened a server that had special rulesets attached. Some servers had expansions release faster than normal, others had loot randomized, some had free teade (items that couldnt be traded before now could - imagine having a full Hero track set of gear maxed out and then getting a mythic track upgrade…and being able to sell/trade that gear to another player of said class).

And its would go like this, every so long, theyd release a new one. And everyone would flock to it. It was a huge cash grab because people could buy QoL things like exp potions or bag bundles from the store to make life a little less miserable. And by this time everyone knows the popular items/camps and create a new economy based around a no trade limit wow token essentially.

Im assuming this will roughly be the same thing. Keep releasing classic over and over once the population starts dying off
