Hi fellow wowers and Blizzard.
Here are a couple ideas i’ve thought up regarding the philosophy of what classic plus would ideally look like.
Firstly, I think that using TBC talents and classes/design should be kept on the table. The classes play better in TBC, there is more QOL features baked in and more nuance than the classic specs. Period, you cannot argue this point. That’s why it should be the base model of what we’re looking at.
Leveling Zones: A player should be able to level multiple characters 1-60 (70) or whatever the level cap is - never doing the same quest twice unless they so choose. New zones, and added quests and finishing/flushing out quest chains should be the priority.
Raids - As we’ve seen from the evil private servers - there are numerous raids that could be done. Uldum, Kara, SM all of that stuff.
Open World Dungeons and Grinding Areas/elite zones should be more of a thing at all level ranges, tied to additional quests while leveling.
Too many instanced areas take players out of the world. Flesh out the current elite areas with more rewards so people will farm in those areas.
I feel the gearing philosophy should align with current classic gearing standards or be even reduced, making powerful items more powerful and lessening regearing all items in between patchs. You shouldn’t need or be able to replace all your gear with each raid you should be targeting significant items from the raids to progress. Catch up/side raids should exist ala zg/aq 20 for “other” upgrade avenues.
Epic Quest Chains and Class Quests - The Legion order hall comes to mind, however instead of an order hall type system, implement rep grinds like ravenholdt for each class and attach class quest chains to them. Level 20ish you would go there and start this quest chain that would meander throughout the rest of the game, giving you XP and rewards and a cool quest line to experience based on your class.
PVP - The honor system should be reworked AGAIN.
Personally, I would just have it be a flat amount of honor you need over time, without decay to rank up, much like the modernist system in retail.
Battlegrounds should be casually focused and offer building block rewards for pvp gear. I don’t think rated Battlegrounds are very good, they split the player base too much. Middle ground items so one could hold their own.
World PvP should be the #1 incentivized activity. Bring the War, back to warcraft. It’s organic and fun and takes place IN THE WORLD.
Attaching various rewards, reps, etc with fun items that arn’t overpowered should be the ethos here. Tabards, Enchants, maybe…1 mount or something along those lines would be good. Do not go overboard with these rewards. We don’t want thousands of mounts and pets and garbage but a unique tabard or something not too over the top would be cool.
Arena - 2’s 3’s 5’s - spectator mode or OPEN WORLD PvP arena like brawlers guild where other players can spectate via sign up from the steamweedle cartel or something. Use your imagination.
Professions -
The profession system should be overhauled from the ground up with MAJOR cross utilization of each of the professions items to craft.
EG: I want to make a pair of bracers, I am blacksmith - I need, gems from JC, I need Leather from LW, I need thread from tailor, I need enchant from Enchanter, I need some goop from alch etc.
Cross Utilization is key.
Overall, I would really really like to see any additions to the game be grounded in a casual first mindset, let the gameplay speak for itself and give the players a few options to have a “sandbox” experience.
