You need to beeline to Phial/Potion Experimentation.
With 20 points in Phial Mastery, 20 points in Phial Lore, and 20 points in Phial Experimentation I get multiple successes in a row with phial experiments.
What’s really really bad about this, it’s poorly explained, you can temporarily brick your profession if you don’t do this, and it would appear these are completely useless for end game. You spend them to get there, but they have no bearing once you arrive.
I specced into experimentation as well. Not quite as far as you but it hasnt made any noticeable difference. Although who could tell i get one try every four hours and its almost always an explosion lol.
It wasn’t until i got to 20 on the last one which opened up advanced phial experimentation that things really started moving. Got to 100 skill quickly and have probably done 20 or so successful experimentation since but no new recipes.
Maybe 6 explosions but the successful’s were giving me enough cool down reset pots that I was back to farming mats.
I have had 3 straight explosion in a row now, after a lot of successes, which makes me suspect there might be a hidden max success per week/day that we’re running into.
This Alch system implemented is absolutely horrid.
I am level 63 and have basically failed every experimentation for the last 4-5 days.
Whoever thought this system was a good idea should be looking for a new gig surely.
yup. alchemy experimentation is ridiculous. i had the odd random explosion locking me out here and there. but at least for the most part i could get a skill level up 2-3 times before booming.
since yesterday i was not able to get 1 single skill yup. craft. BOOM. drink the liquid courage as i had only 1 and BOOM again. 5-6 hours later when i logged back in BOOM. logged out and came back later and BOOM. BOOM. BOOM. 6 times in a row!!
now i am here to the forums to comment that this is crazy. blizzard needs to fix this asap. from my own experiences and the ones i have read here on the forums about it, these explosions have at the very least a 50% chance of happening if not more. 6 times in a row for me.
how? I spec’d into experimentation and have the profession at 100, and all the phial recipes. Only missing a few decay potions (I wasted mettle experimenting potions without realizing I needed to unlock Decayology first).
Once you have advanced experimentation, it almost never fails. You can experiment 20-30 times in a row with the free resets you get. Your only limit is mettle (I completely run out).
The problem, though, nothing makes any gold. Literally everything I make is at a loss.
Something else that might make a difference is using quality 2 Omnium in your experiments. Which for me requires at least one herb to be quality 3.
wtf is wrong with you Blizzard time gating this profession like this. Literally every experiment I’ve done i think the last 7 or 8 have failed and I have all my knowledge points into Phial Mastery, Phial Lore, and Phial Experimentation in the spec tree.
No other profession has some barrier like this I haven’t even been able to get a single point today in my profession despite spending like 30k on mats.
30K or more spent and not one point earned!!! Absolutely outrageous. It’s borderline predatory with people having to waste mat’s in something that has such a high chance to fail over and over and over again despite having sunk a ton of knowledge points into Phials.
Exploding every 4hs is not even funny anymore. I’ve been stuck at 67/100 for days now.
I would drop alchemy but I don’t want to lose the vials of the sands recipe.
Feels bugged as is. I’ve had one successful in the last 20.
You get a total of 6 skill ups when you create both alchemist stones (2 stones, 3pts per). I’m still seeing orange “3” next to those stones at level 86, so you do still have things that can level you up.
Blizzard wanted skilling up to take longer, so there does seem to be some kind of method to their madness BUT, this IS insane. I too have had strings of good luck with experiments but now I’m on day 2-3 of multiple fails, locking me out of alchemy all day, which is super frustrating,
