That’s positively adorable.
LoL, yup!
Shadowlands pre-sales highest of any World of Warcraft expansion

BC era isn’t great as you think. Arena meta are the same Druid. Legendary from boss. Outland was a mess. In the end retail alway going to win. It old content vs new content.
While you could (and indeed people did) say the same thing about Classic, it’s been an incredibly fun ride so far (though of course some people complain).
However…
I think that with the point of exploring new content together, this will always be the case.
However, I also think BC Classic will be an incredible amount of fun (if/when it ever comes out).
TBC is the least “time-gated” expansion in WoW’s history. Literally had T6 in the game right away.
TBC would be “new” for tons of people. Classic was “new” for me, because I hadn’t done any of this stuff originally.
I get you, man. I like Classic, but I just don’t have the time to get the things done that I want to get done.
That said, I wouldn’t call the game “outdated”. It’s just made for a player that can put the time in. There’s another thread where some guy was arguing that Classic is alt friendly cause he has a geared alt and “only” plays four hours a day.
As for “modern” games, MTX has basically run me out the industry. I wanna pay for the game and be done. I’ll even grab an expansion. But this paying for stuff that should be in the game is too much.
Well I enjoyed classic a whole lot more than retail. 3 lvl 60s, raid geared two of them. Did everything I wanted in the game. Took a long time but I didn’t feel like I was being held back apart from how much time I could put into it.
I’ll probably come back to see how TBC turns out (if it ever does) but feel like Shadowlands is designed to string player subs out as long as possible.
I think a big factor here is that BC endgame content is quite as bit more compelling than vanilla’s. Let’s be real here, MC and vanilla dungeons really aren’t that good. BC heroics and kara will keep people attention a lot longer, and then you have arenas as well. Some will vehemently disagree with me, but BC is a much better game overall, and will have more staying power I think.
Hi, I joined the game in TBC and I think it’s one of WoW’s lowest comparatively. Maybe it’s time you understand people can like what you don’t without them being wrong?
It wouldn’t crush SL but create more subs.
Rollout is well timed with $$$$$ invested to time launch to maximize overall subs.
TBC will be April or May. In between raid releases of Shadowlands. TBC arena will be a pretty big driver and will provide a lot of consistent subs to WoW even after Sunwell. I know a lot of people that hit 60 in retail and are already pretty disgusted by yet another dumb alternate advancement and layered grind system with caps.
Thats what people said when classic was announced and it didn’t happen. Also SL isn’t that bad “yet”. If they continue doing the story right and the raids are good SL will be a success.
It got almost as many subs as retail did, despite being a re-release of a 15 year old game.
Seethe harder.
Blizzard does not release sub numbers, so not sure where you got that from. And sure, there might have been a boost at launch. But what about now?
I doubt TBC release will “crush” Shadowlands, but WOTLK might, if it ever comes out (2024?)
I hope SL does well, and I would be overjoyed if retail had a really good expansion. I haven’t played SL so I can’t give my opinion on whether it’s any good or not.
But, if I had to place a bet based on what I’ve seen over the past decade…
SL will just be another cycle of denial/cope out of retail players as they realize this is bad xpac number number 6. The only way to soothe the pain is to buy a faerie costume lol.
Yes, and a massive portion of those subs didn’t last longer than a month or two.
You mean, Cataclysm, MoP, WoD, and Legion, which all were better than anything that had come before?
$15 is $15 to Activision.
Right on cue. There’s that denial I was just talking about. The dawning realization that SL is bad is going to be really tough on you bud. I’m sorry.
Actually, my opinion, TBC won’t even near Classic’s initial success let alone the latest Retail xpac. And it has nothing to do with whether it’s better or worse. A lot of old vet’s came back to try Classic one more time. Only to realize, they don’t have the time or desire any more. With TBC, they won’t even bother.
