A bit yeah. Given that the other two options for our RP-PvP community were either pretty distasteful or dooming ourselves to a slow demise.
Option 1 would have been to pick a PvP server as our ‘home’ and take it over, just like certain countries did for European servers back in the day. It would have led to a pretty ugly war between RP-PvPers and the straight PvPers who rolled on said realm, for supremacy of the realm itself. Would likely have killed the community just like the community was slowly killed off in retail.
Option 2 would have been to pick an RP server and just flag for PvP there. But that option is considered so worthless that the community had already rejected it and chosen Option 1 over it as our last resort. Basically, without spontaneous RP-PvP via forced flagging, Option 2 would just lead to another slow death for the RP-PvP community.
Only by having our own realm on launch day will the RP-Pvp community be able to thrive… and I do believe it will thrive. I could be wrong, but I fully expect this single RP-PvP server to be the liveliest Realm in all of Classic, because the RP-PvP community, after all of the PvE content is cleared and the BGs have grown stale, will STILL be creating it’s own content through Guild Rivalries and RP storylines and massive WPvP battles driven by Roleplay.
The RP-PvP realm will have the most emergent gameplay in all of Classic WoW, hands down.

Absolutely. No doubt in my mind we will have and keep the healthiest community and pop. Don’t be afraid to try out the server guys, you may just fall in love.
