So lets go back to 2011 when Blizzard decided to do the big auctioning of the old server blades that were actually in the physical servers for a realm for St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
It was a great cause, and a lot of players were actively bidding on a piece of their server’s history.
Except when it came to Argent Dawn. Now I apologize for people on The Scryer’s as this was long before the realm ‘merge’ that happened with our two sides but… Lets get into the events of what happened and why I have been waiting for an answer for so long.
Argent Dawn EU blades went up for auction and sold, and I want to say about 20 hours or so before the Argent Dawn US was scheduled to go up, it was suddenly removed from the auction site and no longer available.
We have all had many discussions from the community perspective over this and pretty much every conspiracy theory known to man has been brought up. The most popular reason is:
On Argent Dawn US, there is a high-profile Celebrity that wishes to remain anonymous, and they offered a large amount of money to purchase the server blade silently without the auction. Blizzard accepted the offer, ripping the opportunity away from any normal person’s chance to bid on a piece of their WoW history.
Can we get an answer as to if this is what happened or not? Some official response? Because I remember feeling shocked that it was removed when I went to go start bidding and could not find the listing anymore. I went to check to see if I missed it due to some time zone mishap on my part, but nope… it was just gone.
