The leveling experience (Literally all of LFG is ‘WTS Boosts’)
The PVP! (Zero world pvp, the meta for BGs is sitting afk doing nothing)
The community (Mass report bans is top #5 issues. All bots)
The relaxed, classic experience (Can’t join a BRD without a gearscore check. 7th run of a min maxed 20 year old game, still only warrior dps allowed)
The social experience of OG classic! (Basically, every experience in groups outside guilds is bots selling something. Summons, boosts, etc.)
Really sad. Nobody wants to level classic fresh anymore because we’ve done so many runs. Should’ve done classic TBC already or something. Very glad these “classic players” stopped playing SOD lol. SOD is bis wow
They did the right thing for banning GDKP. For TBC, it’d be the best if ALL boosts were banned. Who knows
It’s a wave of hype locusts. They cooked Era’s niche community after they all got bored (hardstuck) in Ulduar during Wrath. Then they demanded a bunch of changes to our museum piece, and moved on to the next thing while leaving behind all their bad changes like litter on a beach.
Was like this in 2019. Wouldnt be a market for boosting if there werent people too lazy or impatient to level. Playerbase issue not game issue.
I cant walk 10 feet in the open world without tripping over someone trying to clip farm for their 37 viewer twitch stream. And i main Shadow. Not most people’s ideal target for a 1v1.
$10 a ban is why this thread was made. Got snagged for afking in BGs huh.
I had exactly one person try to gearcheck me for a non raid. Dude unironically had a white piece of gear and wanted carried for free.
still only warrior dps allowed
Meanwhile here i am Shadow with Mish’undare already and about to start throwing SRs at Nelth’s tear.
Tell me youre antisocial without telling me youre antisocial. Ive had multiple convos with complete strangers just out in the world.
Where the realization that GDKPs and Boosting could yield real world profit was made.
Thats why they were such big business in 2019 and its why we have GDKP organizers intentionally ruining the boards in a year long gigamelty. The GDKP ban slaughtered their RMT profits.
GDKP organizers took a sizeable cut of the pot pre-dispersement and would sell the gold for $. This was a large enough source of income that they could utilize it as their primary source of income - aka they could quit their damn jobs and live off Gold Selling. THIS IS WHY THEY ARE SO MAD ABOUT THE BAN.
As for how i know that: i participated in ONE GDKP in 2019 on my AQ geared warrior. My guild had stopped doing MC so i went on this GDKP MC as a carry. Figured id try to make some extra cash.
I watched TOEP go for 90,000 gold, Bindings were advertised as pre-sold for 150k and ee got one. OSG went for 92,000 after a 15 minute 7 way bidding war starting at 5k. The pot ended up being half a million gold and the Organizer took a 10% organizer cut, a 5% MT cut and his two guildies both got an additional 5% cut for top heal and top DPS. So the 3 of them kept 20% of the pot off the top and then still got a chunk of what was left afterward.
That singular GDKP taught me everything i needed to know.
And that was before the infamous incident of Gressil going for 180,000 gold to a guy who claimed he just “did a lot of DME jump runs” to make that gold.
Agree on more or less everything… Anniversary has been the lamest of the vanillas (reg, classic, som being the others… I don’t count SoD for obvious reasons.)
I can tolerate most of it, but the gratuitous lack of wsg/ab games outside of their respective holidays… and the extremely low quality of average player doing any pvp (and to be fair, pugs are always going to have bad players, but I think this whole AV meta has fully brainrotted most of the playerbase)…I’m skeptical TBC is going to “fix” it, either.
I’m holding out hope that MoP pvp will redeem what a mess anniversary has been, but that’s going to be super rough as well considering how many non english speakers are apparently on the cata realms. BGs/RBGs/Arenas all require communication, which is rough when 50% of the players can’t communicate with the other half.
