Chronoboon was a reaction to the raidlogging epidemic, not because anyone asked for it. People were collecting their wbuffs and logging outside of raid, and the game felt extremely dead just before boon was added. Classic players largely missed the fun in wbuffs on a PvP server and the game suffered because of it.
I’m a Classic Era andy and have been whining about SoD changes seeping into Era for a year now so you don’t have to convince me.
Classic is just a retro spinoff for retail players to blow steam in between content droughts. The stick the broke the camel’s back was Classic Era never getting its own client separate from TBC, and was never able to mature into a more accurate recreation of vanilla rather than devolve into the timewalking raiding sim that Classic Era was before FRESH.
The fate of official vanilla remains in the balance, but I am not hopeful for us faithfuls.
The chronoboon was put in because Tinyviolin had an upwards of 20 priest accounts dispelling world buffs. He played on the same server as some of the classic teams toons and targeted them too. Chronoboon is just an avenue to avoid griefing and dodge dying with buffs, nothing else. People who raid logged raidlogged witu chronoboon too. If someone doesn’t want to play the game they raidlog. Sod is a raidlog game because nobody wants nor has anything to do outside of raid.
Nice, we do seem to agree
Seems like it, yeah.
So long as the game still feels playable to me I’ll play it. If it doesn’t I won’t. I feel sod was awake up call for them, but there are some changes blizzard will not compromise on and we have no power to keep from happening
If Tinyviolin was truly the problem he would’ve been permabanned much sooner and buffs would’ve just been made undispellable.
I believe Chronoboon was definitely for the raidlogging epidemic. I remember alliance WSG queues being upwards of 10 minutes on WSG weekend because no one was playing since their mains were logged with buffs. The real story is probably somewhere in the middle, but this is just how I remember it.
I only resubbed because I heard fresh was coming, but saw the dual spec and layering change bluepost too late. Wouldn’t have otherwise. Still enjoying the game with friends but it’s definitely bittersweet.
They are still finding his accounts and shutting them down to this day. He was just permad an hour after HC launched on a stealth account. They are looking for him actively.
Also, some of the world buffs have already been made undispellable. But if you make them all undispellable then you change the way the game operates like world buffs on Garr for example. Or any sort of mob or mechanic that dispels. That would lower the risk reward factor of having buffs in the first place other than dying. But chronoboon swoops in to eliminate that entirely
It didn’t do anything though. Everyone was still offline even with chrono. That’s just the way the game is in p6. There is literally nothing to do other than raid naxx. Everyone has tons of gold and are ranked up. There’s no further point to play outside of raid.
Yep my point exactly above. BGs are always hotter on fresher servers.
It’ll still be fun. I’m having fun with the homies which is what the game is about. The second changes disrupt that I’m out like sod
One of the interesting parts of playing on Earthfury, although not the most. I’ve got good memories of that server, that’s why I’ll post on that tag as long as I can.
Anyway, I don’t think that the credit fully should go to this one guy doing the dispel game. He certainly likes to say that it was all his work but that’s an ego thing, which is no surprise in this case. There was a bunch of discussion about priests dispelling long before this.
I think this was more of a “testing the waters” thing about changes, and Blizzard did something they knew would be widely popular. Keep in mind this was close to the #somechanges release of TBCC, and I think they were planning that even before Chronoboon was put in.
I’m personally not a fan of changes to Era or a fresh that’s supposed to emulate Vanilla/C2019 but that’s just because the changes overall haven’t been a positive for my experience. I know others like having changes or some changes. It doesn’t matter what individuals like the devs do whatever they feel like doing.
The point is for me to have fun playing World of Warcraft, and when they inevitably launch new Fresh Servers again some day, I’ll do it all over yet again.
To reiterate what others said with my own twist, they’re purposely not telling us their long-term plans so they can herd us around like cattle, milk us as they see fit, and most importantly, they want to be able to back out of their clandestine endeavors in case their plans go south for them.
the first classic fresh timeline I missed, as RL was busy, so I would like to invest into my chars now and discover it again. If they would stop at TBC, this would be a massive blow and I may stop playing now, as there is indeed too much time investment at classic to let it go waste while being stuck at TBC.
You are wrong. Rez dispeling and being one shot isnt pvp. Which really doesnt matter anymore anyway since you can no longer do it. Cope.
I love pvp. Im the one in full GM gear with a 1300 healing per 5 diamond flask set camping the folks that try to grief buffs lol. What I dont love is antisocial behaviors from weirdos who try to make their entire existence making others unhappy because they didnt get enough hugs as a child.
I would imagine the point is another step in the direction of “classic plus” or whatever they decide to call it. Which is why some of the changes we’ve seen before are here. While holding back on whatever bait they lure us in with when plus happens.
While this is true, there is merit to the original question.
Like I really want an ele shaman. Do I bother leveling one who will be oom most of the time and forced into a healing role for a while until being able to play in TBC only to then go into Wrath and Cata where I don’t find the spec as charming for whatever reason?
If you are being one shot in PvP then it sounds like a skill issue.
If you don’t like being camped, you don’t like playing on a PvP server. What is antisocial about calling your PvP friends or PvP guild to assist you in being body camped? Also, anyone willing to body camp you will do it with or without boon.
Boons destroyed guild v. guild PvP. If you really love PvP and weren’t a selfish antisocial weirdo who only cared about getting into raid with your buffs, then you would understand this.
Reading comprehension much? Im the one doing the one shotting you’re the one rezzing being one shot lol and world pvp was way more alive once the boon was put in… Again sorry you cant rez dispel people now lol
