Anniversary Realms All Names Taken

I’ve always like smaller realms, because I prefer being #4 guild on a small server vs #112 on a large server.

But also, and this may seem stupid, but all of my names are taken. It would be nice for there to be some sort of expanded naming system like some other games do, with either a family name or allow a dash or something.

Yet another problem caused by having so few realms.

You snooze you lose, i got all my names in the first hour because it was predicatable and it pisses me off to this day the only realm in 2019 I couldn’t get my name was the one I ended up on.

be creative. make new names that have never been made before.

“You snooze you lose” is such a sad thing to say about a game in 2024 when it comes to something so trivial… Are you okay?

Someone took my preferred name but I never see that person online. Presumably taken by a lv 1 that never logs in?

Just replace an s with x or something

I definitely noticed a lot of people just took names and then never actually played them. I only saved one other name for an alt that I’m waiting to play until the servers die down a bit.

I do know that last time around people saved names and tried to sell them, too.

Did you notify the authorities?

People are literally trying to sell names on discord for wow tokens. This is why we need a headstart for name reservations.

Hoarding names should be banned.

The struggles of maintaining the brand.

I just use alt codes.

If the name is already taken, then evidently you weren’t the only one to think of it.

you can’t ban what has legit needs.

I squatted my human hunters name even as far back as classic redo, the first time. Classic said humans can’t be hunters. I was patient till cata. It paid off.

I have 2 names squated on for it we get legion. For the NE and BE DH who are currently in a stasis cell in a secret warden prison we aren’t supposed to know of yet.

the answer here was, is, and will always be…allow last names. Low grade solution many other games gave long ago.

See eve is older than wow. Eve had spaces to allow last names since day 1. the tech was there 20 years ago for blizzard. Eve had it like 3 years before they did even.

Saving names for the off chance that we actually get a TBC Era server? That’s what I did.

Just have character names nobody likes and you’ll get it everytime

It’s not a legit problem. It’s a “problem” created by one self because they werent told “no” enough growing up and they now have the “everything owes me” mentality

Of all things to complain about..

Babes, you won’t even make it to level 20 - It’ll be okay.

At one time I would of just told you to make your name more unique instead of choosing a name that 9 million other players choose. However now people just put special squiggles in their name and make their name look like visual tourettes. It’s all around gross. Putting in last names, like ff14 does, would be a better resolve in my opinion.

They used to let you open tickets when blizzard actually had a support staff and if the character that held the name you wanted was unused or inactive…especially if it’s held by a level 1 character that has 0 playtime they’d flag that character for rename and give you the ability to take the name.
But no longer!
Friend has been begging me to play TBC classic with him and our old SoD buddys.
I went to make a character yesterday and theres evidently someone using just about every name I could think of.

I agree. The old system was better. Not being able to open names up from inactive toons creates the “snooze you lose” mantra. If you weren’t clicking log in the moment the server went live to take all names under the sun you could think of, gg.

Atleast now I have another excuse not to play aniv.
