I literally cannot get a quest done in STV or the badlands right now. The game is unplayable. Too few layers or too many people, however you slice it, its not working.
They are gonna have to create a new server at this point.
I’ll have to give them credit though, this one lasted longer than I thought it would before it became too full.
No need for a new server, we have the tech to add layers, they just need to change the threshold. Keeping it to fewer servers just prevents dead realms and transfers later.
Spin up more layers!
Group up for them. STV in particular theres like 4 quest total that shouldn’t be done in a group
Try this amazing new thing grouping with others i know the newer and older generations are anti social but just give it a shot
That doesnt work when you need to get dropped items off of the mobs, that literaly are being spawn camped.
yes its amusing to see a single player come back with a group after fair competition for mob/s, so they can all camp the spawns.
yup. trying to jam more people in via layers is not the answer
we just need more servers that simple
give us RP-PvP
Hopefully an RP server of some sort.
grouping for dropped quest items is still preferable to being solo and not getting a single tag or getting walloped by the opposite faction
Definitely getting old each quest taking an hour. Spamming dungeons over and over isn’t fun either. They need to do something
It’s their numbers per layer that are the problem.
Supposedly we have 50,000 people on the server with 7 layers.
We should have easily double the layers we have atm.
Are the numbers increasing?
I know trade was scrolling so fast you couldn’t really read it at times this weekend. And that was horde side dreamscythe. First time it really felt like that.
Its by design because population drops off with TBC and falls into a void with wrath after Uld.
They pre-condensed the realms they would have made into 2 because its unavoidable.
The way they’re doing the layers isn’t great, but better than “Gotcha” transfers that they would be expected to deliver when tons of impatient players change realms for faster (worse) heroic grouping in TBC for pre-raid / attunement.
Ask me how I know the future.
Agreed they almost got it right but just a shy by 1-2 more servers.
Didn’t all of us know it would be like this? I personally didn’t play anniversary because I didn’t want to mindless grind dungeons to 60. I figured it was common knowledge that overcrowded STV and massive ganking would occur…
One of which should surely have been RP.
im on nightslayer horde every thing seems fine to me no sense in making a new server that will die in a month then everyone will just transfer back
Layers are terrible technology. They’re buggy. They chop up the world and artificially separate the players. It’s so dumb to be standing at the same place as others players and not see them. They’re abused and manipulated. They’re completely anti-Vanilla.
The solution is another server. Maybe 2. Whatever is a healthy server for 1 layer per server. That should be the goal. And there are ways to get players to go to certain servers. Offer simple incentives. Blizz could very easily have 2 or 3 healthy servers with healthy faction balances if they really wanted it. But they want the cheapest and easiest system, which is as few servers as possible. And they don’t care how bad that ruins the experience.
The solution isn’t to add more layers or new servers because that just creates more problems for the present and future. Right now, questing consists of waiting around for spawns or having to fight several other people for 5% droprate mobs, what they need to do is add more hyperspawns. By adding more hyperspawns people can consistently get tags so people aren’t bottlenecking on the same quests.
