Has anyone heard or have any information on whether or not they will offer clones over to ERA, similar to what they did in 2021 when TBC classic launched?
I’m hoping, as I really am not a huge fan of TBC.
Thoughts or information you might have?

there’s been no announcement on the subject, to the consternation of players who aren’t keen on advancing to TBC.
I’ll still advance my character, but I cloned back in 2021 and I still play the character today. Would still love that option, also makes Blizzard money so I’m sure they will do it. Just didn’t know if they had made a post or not about it
Blizzard really bungled the character copy process in Spring 2021. so on one hand, we might expect that Blizzard will apply the lessons learned from that roll out and the character copy option for Anniversary Fresh will be better implemented. but on the other hand, it would be totally on brand for Blizzard to just do nothing this time around.
I, too, paid to copy my entire character roster (2 accounts) when the price was reduced to $5/character
to the Era servers. haven’t done anything with them since 2021, but they still exist.
In order of my preference on this subject, from most to least preferred:
i wanna be able to stay in tbc when wotlk rolls out
I could be mistaken, probably am, but I suspect that they won’t offer either a service to clone your character to a presently existing vanilla era server or allow you to transfer your character to that server and the reason I suspect this concerns dual specialization. If you purchased dual specialization and you were to either transfer or clone your character to one of the presently existing vanilla era servers that do not have dual talent specialization, what happens to it?
I think it more likely, though again I could very well be mistaken and would love everyone else’s thoughts on the matter, that once vanilla anniversary has run its course and we move on into TBC, the presently existing anniversary servers will become vanilla anniversary era servers and everyone will be migrated over to TBC anniversary servers. Possibly with the option to clone your character such that you have a copy on the vanilla anniversary and the TBC anniversary servers.
Not sure how all of that works to be honest as this absolutely isn’t my area of expertise and I haven’t put an awful lot of thought into the matter to try and determine what is most feasible and makes the most sense. Just throwing out some random speculation.
We asked months ago, we got ignored even to this day so I assume the answer is a no.
Dwarflord just made a YouTube video about this, he posted a “maybe” screenshot from Aggrend on this issue. Blizzard is apparently waiting to see how many people want this, so make your preference known.
I don’t see why they wouldn’t allow cloning to Era.
It injects more life back into the servers.
no announcement that this is happening and it seems unlikely, due to changes like dual speck
era is quite lively already without anniversary characters, thanks
We NEED!
PERMANENT TBC SERVERS
PERMANENT WOTLK SERVERS
blizzard is in no hurry to make 2 ghost town servers
face it, expansions are meant to be played and then dumped
no era expansions.
Hmm dual spec was added in Lich King if I’m not mistaken, does that indicate we might be headed for LK Era?
I can actually see a few reasons why they would not.
Era is an old server group, but it’s very stable. Be that as it may if we want to retain Era as it is without changes then it’s best if we have levelers in the world to do quests, farm herbs, mine nodes, AH greens and blues, buy, sell, craft and stirr up all kinds of PvP and drama.
But with simple copy and paste characters you don’t get that, and you get a flood of coiners gold flooding the servers.
Also considering the WB’s are desirable the push to change the way they are applied will grow with transfers, but with fresh characters we get more world buffs that existing players will pay handsomely for…
Additionally the the PVP meta for Rankers is revitalized by fresh players, but transfers bring none of that.
There are tons of good reasons to not allow transfers if the goal is long term server retention and retention of the players on the old era servers.
Additionally the small number of players who will pay for the service is not likely to offset the money they can earn by retaining the present group and adding vitality that grows itself organically because there are per player hundreds of hours for a new character to play but few for an existing copy.
If anything is a ghost town It’s Era LOL.
It really isn’t, I enjoy BG’s, dungeons and raid lockouts weekly without any problems.
I even have players to level my new warrior with, just started last week and there were lots of players in the starting zone.
Compared to Anniversary, it really is. And it will remain that way. Era servers were already barely hanging on before Anni released.
Anniversary is a zoo, the servers are massively corrupted by swipers and the amount of raid clears in Naxx we will not have even being able to clear every week makes full bis for those that desire it not practical.
Era while presently lower population than 6 months ago is still very active and the population is a pleasant group with lots going on in all aspects of the game.
Things are actually really good, I have players to play with while leveling my fresh now level 30 warrior, and there are dungeon groups for near every activity as well as world questing groups. You can even get raid lockouts for every raid weekly as a pug if you want.
