So i decided to try the talent out in a random bg however when it’s on and i summon any pet it will never summon a second pet for me <,< Is there something i’m missing or doing wrong? i have 3 pets in the call slot but nothing else ever shows up no matter which pet i choose to spawn. Is my character just bugged?
The talent states that it summons the extra pet from your first stable slot, not from the call pet list. I know it will make the extra pet from your call slot too, but in my experience it bugs out more often when you don’t have a pet in the stable than not.
hmm okay I have 1 pet in stable, 3 on me so it should still work yeah?
It should, but the talent has always been a buggy mess. Sometimes it takes a long time for the second pet to show up, especially if you fly and land. I can’t speak for BG’s. It wouldn’t surprise me if it was completely broken somehow in that mode.
Really want Blizzard to fix this talent and try to delete it by next expansion for not being a popular choice.
Artistically it pleasing to see a class about pets having two at once, but it usefulness is killed by how buggy it is.
its not popular because it not only sucks mechanically it is a flat DPS loss vs not taking any talent at all in that tier
The balance team dropped the ball on that talent "lets give them a dps loss talent that looks cute, so we can slowly delete the doble pet from legion by 9.0’
I have a similar problem. I can only summon a spirit beast + whatever other thing I want. It doesn’t matter which pet I have in my first stable slot (yes, left hand column, not the call pet button).
Things I’ve tried:
Moved my spirit beast to the inactive stable. Result: I now can only summon one pet, even with the point in animal companion.
Taking the point out of Animal companion, dismiss, log out, log back in, put the point back in. Result: Why hello Spirit beast.
Flipping specs- go to MM, log out. Respec back to BM, log out. Log back in and summon pet: Why hello spirit beast.
To reiterate- My spirit beast is not in my first active pet slot. It was the first time I logged in after an extended period and it gave me the message about resetting talents.
It doesn’t appear to matter which slot my spirit beast is actually in, as long as it’s in an active spot it’s going to get summoned + whatever else I want. If it’s not in an active spot then it simply doesn’t get summoned at all. It’s really aggravating to see how buggy this talent appears to be.
Is there anything else I could try before I give up the ghost on this one?
It works fine for me. I have four active pets, and dozens in the stable. It always calls the pet I have in the first stable slot, but sometimes the second pet takes a second or two to show up.
As for the DPS loss, just stack Mastery whenever possible and select the proper azerite traits and you will more than make up for it. I was sceptical at first, but love dual pets now. Make sure your primary is a spirit beast and macro all your pet attacks and heals into every attack macro and you will dominate.
Maybe it has something to do with that. I have no pets in my stable, other than the spirit beast I’ve tried testing this out on. (sacrilege, right?) It’s one more thing to try, I guess. Thanks for the response.
You have to have a pet to call in your stable for it to work. Active pets dont count.
Ah that’s probably it right there. And here I thought I was bright by looking at the stupid left hand column instead of my call pet button.
… never mind me, I’m going to run off and eat some humble pie now.
How is that possible?
Because it uses some wonky math where some things get hit with a 1.2 modifier and then split evenly between the two pets, but other things did not and the splitting of the damage combined with the 2nd pet not having basic attacks means smaller crits but not necessarily more frequent crits and losing damage on the basic attack IE claw, smack, bite. Which if you look at your logs or sims pet basic attack is a significant chunk of BM damage. This talent was originally balanced around the azerite trait Pack Alpha. With it’s removal there’s no viability in it any more.
