Asmongold’s channel is pretty funny. Definitely get some laugh either with him or sometimes at him. Laughs none the less.

I used to think he was a jerk. I watched a clip here and there and it always rubbed me the wrong way, but I have been watching lately for wacky events like todays and I have come to realize he is just trolling people when he is acting the part of a jerk. You wouldn’t notice it in passing, but its clear when you watch him for a little while. I’m a convert, I take back that hate I mentally projected towards him.

All of the Asmongold haters don’t actually watch any off his stuff. They just complain about him of the stuff they heard from other Asmongold haters that also don’t watch his content.

I watched him after seeing so many threads about him here to learn about him. I went into it without bias, here’s what I found.
He:
- Swears excessively
- Makes fun of the mentally handicapped
- Doesn’t know anything outside of the scope of WoW
- Has poor hygiene and grooming standards
- Doesn’t have any sort of moral code whatsoever, machiavellian essentially
- Has not honestly worked a real job for any significant period of time
- Has anger issues at his father (still)
- Would throw his friends under a bus without blinking for a dollar
It’s the internet and it’s still somewhat free (sort of), so good on him for finding a market for his “skills”, whatever they may be. He seems passionate about WoW and that may be the selling point for some. Though he does oversell his great “ideas” about fixing the game, since he’s essentially just echoing what others are saying.
I know what people mean when they reference his “persona”, but I also think they’re overlooking the fact that he clearly uses this as a convenient out for being morally ambiguous and overly crude.
I don’t really see the appeal there, but I don’t hate him. Hate is a strong word and implies a level of care I just don’t have. I highly doubt I’m the only one with this opinion.
I do think analyzing him does tell you a great deal about his fans and followers though.

I’m glad Asmongold has such enthusiasm for both classic and 8.2. It’ll hopefully bring in even more people to both games.
He makes fun of the normally capable people who act like they are mentally handicapped.
I mean. If you’ve been living in your mother’s attic for 25+ years doing nothing but streaming WoW: I would be surprised if you knew anything else.

I’m by no means a fan of Asmongold. I just find him more entertaining than the other WoW streamers. Also: I mostly just watch his react videos. Not so much his actual streams.

Do you love WoW as an IP? Disregarding current problems in retail. Just in general.

I like the story (atleast before Cata) and I like the art style. But the story(after Cata), the mechanics, etc, I don’t really care for.
