Ok I have seen some discussion/weird arguments on this and maybe we should try to have a proper discussion on it.
It does not matter what you make a character do in a fantasy story that makes him look tough. That’s maybe only half of it. You can make a frog do incredible feats of strength, but at the end of the day he is still a frog. Anduin doesn’t have the look, charisma, stoicism, and leadership values we have seen of some of the proper patriarchs in the past of wow. Now if you think it’s better to have Anduin struggle with his emotions and cry a lot, then I will understand your opinion and will disagree. I believe for a good video character he has to have all the aesthetic values of what we have traditionally seen as manly values in the past, not what odd characteristics they have been coming up with.

Have you seen what he has gone through? That is a struggle. I’ve always liked his character. I’m hoping that he overcomes and grows into a strong leader.

He’s not terrible, but he’s not very interesting either. he’s the perfect representation of the Alliance… kind of just there.

Adversity is supposed to build resilience. Anduin has the resilience of a 1st world teenager doing their hair in the morning and having a bad hair day.

Ya but you can make any character do anything in a story as long as you write it. I am more referring to his looks.
Ya I think they CAN do something with him.
I think this post says more about you than Anduin.

Only one thing remains for Anduin. He needs to whine about picking up power converters from Toshii station. Then his unmanliness will be complete.

Yeah, especially when you consider he’s been preparing for this stuff his entire life, but breaks down as soon as he’s forced to do anything. Realistically, if Blizzard wanted to they could portray him as a terrible leader, and it wouldn’t take much work.

People in the modern world have real problems with unapologetic strength. They think every man needs to be a tortured soul, only using his power, because he loves his children so much that he will do what he needs to do. That’s the only way to be good anymore. Otherwise, you’re just a racist, sexist, xenophobe, fascist. It’s silly.
This is what’s wrong with modern writing. It doesn’t give the benefit of a doubt. Conquest is a dirty word nowadays. When, the truth is, it’s why we live in comfort today and have the luxury to view everything through the lens of soft-bellied babies.

his character development is perfect and the long time they gave it to get to this point one does not simply become that hero it is a path as we seen him griev befor and face the trauma of the shadowlands as we now see him fight his demons and become a GigaChad!

Yeah, who’s our leader again?

Racism, sexism, xenophobia have made some of the best story-telling in tv shows/video games imo

Unfortunately, no hero is allowed to do things for the benefit of his people anymore. Now it’s, “Did you bring enough to share with the class”?

It has yet to be seen imo, but I there is hope
Most of the other leaders in this story have just been bad characters. Garrosh gets way too much credit, when he’s one of the most poorly written main characters in the franchise. He’s Hulk without Bruce Banner. Inward reflection, and the human heart in conflict with itself, makes for a good start with Anduin. My primary issue is that I don’t understand why he takes personal responsibility for what happened in SL. He was being physically controlled, unless his consciousness was in there somewhere watching, and in his mind too weak to take back control.

I liked it better in WC3 were most emotion was put forward in actions, not words or tears
