Forgive me. I’m not a super lore geek. I am confused on the opening cut scene for humans. It says ‘led by the child KIng, Anduin Wrynn.’ I did a double take when I heard that. I later saw someone in chat laughing about it. I went to the keep and there’s little Anduin about 5 years old standing next to Fordragon.
I googled the original cut scene. There’s one posted on youtube in Dec of last year. Exactly the same. I totally do not remember the king being a kid, but I did start at the beginning of TBC so maybe they had updated slightly at that point.
Anyone care to fill in the blanks? Grand Dad? Daddy away somewhere? What’s the story?

Also fun fact, child Anduin was voiced by one of the developer’s kids.

Yes, I was thinking Onyxia. TY I did the whole attunement quest line and the raid as a 70. Guess I should have paid more attention to the RP text.
BTW, I have to say he is not cute. He looks like horrible luck with a Sims child aging up 
His dad was a deadbeat. One day he went out for smokes and never returned until some years later.

It’s not often that a dad goes out to buy smokes and gets kidnapped by Orcs, loses his memory, and is forced to become a gladiator for his captors’ amusement.

Anyway, they were not playing a joke and were not drunk or high (well, can’t guarantee the last). That is the original lead-in scene.
Varian was Missing, Presumed Dead until Wrath. Anduin was king until that time, with Bolvar Fordragon and (Disguised) Onyxia as his regents.

Yeah Varian didn’t come back until Wrath and if you look at the really old Dark Legacy comics from Vanilla they have a few about the boy king.
The whole situation is a little weird now that I think about. The Human intro talks about Anduin the Child King because Varian is missing. But, its not until level 30 that we can pick up The Missing Diplomat quest chain where we learn that… the King is missing.

saw this bit in the google search from a wiki. stands to reason if he was kidnapped, it happened during vanilla, as part of the storyline.
