He had such a great start. He was winning most of the battles in BFA, Lordaeron, Darkshore, and Arathi. And tbh I liked him in the BFA cinematic. MY KING TO BE SURE. Now he’s like, “sniff, I don’t wanna help other people, because I almost killed someone, and then stabbed a robot…sniff”(what?) Yeah yeah we get it you played Shadowlands. Sad day. YOUR KINGDOM NEEDS YOU IDIOT!!!
Tell me you don’t understand PTSD and trauma without telling me you don’t understand PTSD and trauma.
He was best in MoP.
And yes, Shadowlands made him sad. It made everybody sad. It made the game sad. But everyone else moved on, he needs to man up.
I assume you didn’t watch the other 5 cinematics where he was a sad boi?
Edit: also he did kill people in Ardenweld
Spoken like a person whose most traumatic event in their life was that their mom didn’t buy them a toy from the store. Saying someone should just “man up” is truly not understanding how trauma and PTSD work.
WOW actually did something interesting with Anduin by making him suffer, go through trials, struggle with trauma and learn what he actually wants for himself vs giving in to the unrealistic standards placed upon him by Stormwind and everyone around him. His new direction is far more interesting and engaging (and his character design more aesthetically pleasing) and I look forward to seeing where they take his character in the worldsoul saga.
Only reminds me of Thrall since he only shows until the horde is attacking itself. (MoP and BfA)
…possible alliance raid incoming?
He was an idiot who screwed up repeatedly, got a lot of people killed for no reason, abandoned his allies when they needed him, was forced to call up farmers to feed the meat grinder, and sacked a city for absolutely no benefit.
Spoken like someone whose idea of “manning up” is brushing their teeth without having to be told.
I mean look at all the events every character, including the player characters, have been through and stand strong. Death knights were controlled like Anduin in Shadowlands, but now have free will and do not whine about PTSD despite murdering tons of people. I fail to see where you are coming from.
anduin was never a good character.
Yes he was mentally healthier in BFA, some 12 years ago in game time.
The playerbase is whinier than any NPC
So idk about this one
Because Anduin’s character is taking a different path who regained his free will and is struggling with losing his faith. These are very human concerns and a classic theme to explore in literature. Anduin’s journey is well written, some people just don’t like that he is a complicated hero rather than a cardboard cutout king they can project their own meanings onto.
BFA Anduin didn’t get his body, mind, and soul completely violated by that smelly banshee and her mumbling jailer.
Who did he almost kill? He obliterated that troll in the BFA cinematic.
I’m sure he’ll get a Return of the King style homecoming at the end of the Last Titan.
He does join the fight, though. Like right at the beginning. We were in an unprecedented era of peace and he left the kingdom in the hands of one of, if not the greatest hero the Alliance has ever known. He can take a break.
Can’t have men behaving courageously in modern media!
It just wouldn’t suit modern audiences.
