Anduin using the Shadow/Void have no sense

He is a human from the Kingdom of Stormwind, and not just any human, he was the prince and now the King. Stormwind human priesthood had an old tradition related to the Light worship, and only the Light Worship, and never the Void of the Shadow magic.
And his prince by some unknown reason start in his youth to study shadow magic, who teach him that? who allow him to that? and how he is not critiziced for other Light wielders of Stormwind? Yes yes, he is the King, he can do anything he want, but that doesn’t mean that we should know about some priest or paladin who at least secretely thinks (not saying at loud) that the prince/king is taking the wrong path.
He also was taught by Velen, but Draeneis as stormwind humans, are very attached to the Light, and refuse the Shadow. Just listen talk to Grand Anchorite Almonen in Shattrath.
We don’t know how, when and why someone who was destined to worship only the Light, could choose also another path who it’s not allowed. And also we must keep in mind that there isn’t priests among Anduin teachers who knows about to wield the shadow. The only human who knew about that was Natalie Seline, and her work was locked by Dalaran.

Look at bennedictus, leader of the church of the light in stormwind, ended up going shadow and serving deathwing. I don’t think Anduin is studying the void but it happening wouldn’t necessarily be a bad story, depending on HOW it’s written.

Benedictus it’s a traitor to his own Kingdom, to his spiritual believes, traditions and national interests. Is not a good comparison.

Actually, Natalie Seline(1) is exactly why it’s quite plausible that Anduin would wield any shadow magic.

For a little background, let’s talk about the woman in question. Natalie Seline was a human priest native to the kingdom of Stormwind who had survived the first war. At some point, she had worked herself up to the position of Bishop within the Church of the Holy Light, and after seeing the dark magics that the orc necrolytes had used, decided that she should study them with the intent of knowing how to better combat her enemy.

Natalie Seline preached a doctrine of Discipline. She learned that, “In the ebb and flow between these forces[void and Light], one can find power and knowledge beyond anything the Church of the Holy Light has ever revealed to its followers. One can cross the divide between Light and Void. One can pull strands from each side and weave a tapestry of day and night.”

And yes, while Dalaran did attempt to scour her teachings, “they could not bury the doctrine of balance she had preached. In the years to come, others would take up her teachings and devote themselves to the Light and the Void.”

Of interesting note is the fact that we have no record of the Church trying to hide her teachings, only the Kirin Tor. I would argue that it was some of those teachings, in books that the Church feels are only suitable for the most stalwart of faith, that Anduin may have been able to learn some of these abilities, such as the Mind Control he used on Sully McLeary(2) in Pandaria. We saw Anduin protect his dad with a Power Word: Shield(3) in the bread crumbs that lead up to the Alliance’s invasion of the Twilight Highlands. It seems like Anduin has been a Disc Priest all along. It would make sense, then, that he knows Shadow magic as well as Holy.

“Yet despite their efforts, they could not bury the doctrine of balance she had preached”, that’s the exact quote from Xal’atath, Blade of the Black Empire.

That’s is not something that can be a prove that the balance among shadow and light would be an acceptable or regular practice among stormwinds humans. Also the quote from wowpedia says “Yet despite their efforts, they could not bury the doctrine of balance she had preached”, and the word doctrine (if you click it) links you to the cult of the forgoten shadow, wich means that his teachings were developed among the forsakens, not stormwind priesthood.

I’m not saying that SW would necessarily accept shadow magic, only that it’s entirely plausible for Anduin to do it. Be it in secret or simply there not being anything the common people are going to do about it.

If I recall correctly he actually used a mind control spell in MOP to throw one of the agents you’re working with off his trail in the Jade Forest.

Now, do I personally think that Anduin is or will soon begin using void magic? No, but there are way sit could happen without being lore breaking.

Would not accept it, if we see the lore from warcraft 3 until today it’s clear that they don’t. Even now void elves are not precisely welcome in the Cathedral.

That’s ok, but Blizz should told us at least if that exactly happened and how.

Sure, i don’t have any issue with Anduin using any kind of dark magic if at the same time Blizzard give us a good backup story to support that. That’s mostly my point in this thread.

Fix your Title OP.

…being a priest is about balance of such energies, isn’t it? Besides, he uses Mind Control in game…of course he has knowledge about shadowy magic within the priesthood.
