I have seen a lot of content creators state that at the end of Shadows Rising, Anduin shows he is infused with void magic. No where in the book does it state that the magic is void magic. To me, it seemed to be the same kind of purplish whisky magic of death Sylvanas has been showing.
What are your thoughts?
Anduin has no reason to use death magic, nor is he allied with the Jailer. It makes zero sense. Being that he’s a priest and was feeling exceptionally negative, void makes far, far more sense.
Most likely void magic, Not that it matters. Knowing Blizzard they will forget about it and it will never be brought up or talked about again.
That’s a good point. I didn’t think about the priest aspect.
When did that happen? I’ve read the book and don’t recall that happening. Was it one sentence or a big thing?
Briefly when talking to Sira he gets upset and for a moment conjures void magic.
I don’t think it’s so unimportant an incident when the author has been specifically asked by Blizzard to implement it into the book ( as she said in an interview ).
But yes, void magic seems the most likely explanation.

I dont think it matters, everyone seems to forgot that light magic has done some pretty evil things in the story
wow isn’t some story where light=good and shadow=bad
It seems to be more of an indication of how all of the recent events are affecting Anduin. I have no doubt that if Anduin starts using void magic it’ll be as white-washed and justified as when the void elves use it. However, this is still a very visible example of change with the character.
Why would Anduin have anything related to the Jailer’s death magic? I’m pretty sure it’s void.
It can be many things. Tempted by the dark side? Will he be Luke or Darth Vader? Pristy Quickcharge can provide a Vader look. Light itself is corupted? Only a tease for Shadowlands and it will not go anywhere? Probably he will have a darker arc in Shadowlands to what extend i don’t know.
To keep him in parity with Sylvanas in terms of “specialness.”
Anduin is a priest and he’s cast shadow spells before. It seems like he’d mostly likely reach out to that rather than random necromancy / Jailer stuff.
Pretty sure Roux told Nobbel and Pyro that it’s Shadow magic that Blizz told her to write; it’s one of the mandatory and carefully reviewed parts of the book.
She only uses the term dark energy and dark power in the Nobbel one.
I came to the forums to search for a thread about Anduin’s magic moment and coincidentally this thread was at the top of the page. Things are looking up for me today

I think it would be kind of a neat twist if Anduin was already working for the Jailor and no one realized it, kind of like Sylvanas. Supposedly Sylvanas is going to have a cinematic dialogue with another character, and I think its safe to say its going to be that moment between her and Anduin in the Maw considering that’s the only place her in-game model exists right now on the beta.
Although I doubt they would do that, so its probably just his priestly shadow side which great, Anduin could use a little shadow.
