I’m leveling a Paladin doing mostly dungeons as Protection.
One of our dps dies after pulling packs that I didn’t. We nearly wiped but I kept quiet.
I res the dps and proceed to heal our healer (she had a dot and apparently didn’t notice and nearly killed her), while I’m doing this the 200 IQ mage decides to pull the boss.
I have an addon that reveals who is pulling so I say “Mage is tank now” I stood still for like 5 seconds and taunted when our Warrior pulled aggro and went down to half health (not only was mage pulling but her dps was lower than mine). Next thing I know I’m kicked from the group.
Back to retribution I guess, enjoy your queue times.

I have been tempted to try tanking, but what you described is the main reason I won’t. I’ll have to learn and pugs can be pretty unforgiving to someone learning how to tank.

Yep. I rolled a paladin at the very start of BfA. It’s become a sort of tradition that I forget how awful tanking is and think, “Hey, I’ll try a tank this time,” once per expansion.
Anyway, my experience was quite similar. I didn’t get past level 60 before deciding the chaotic shenaniganry was something I had no intention of swimming in any longer. Big nope from me.

Not even “pretty unforgiving.” They’re plain ol’ mean. I wouldn’t. Without a guild group of friends…I wouldn’t touch it.

I’m not even learning, I have two tanks at max level one of them fully geared. I know what I’m doing and I move pretty fast through dungeons but apparently it’s never fast enough.

When I was leveling my Feral Druid there was a Lock complaining to the tank that he/she kept moving the boss out if the locks rain of fire when the tank was just doing their job. I was daring the lock to try a vote to kick. I would have said no and hoped the others would say no as well then I would have tried to kick the lock.

yep. It’s literally not worth the annoyance trying to tank leveling dungeons.

I stopped wanting to tank a long time ago. It just isn’t worth being aggravated.
Just finish leveling in Ret. It’s more fun, and you can tune your prot rotations at endgame with guildies.
I used to main prot tank. Still tank sometimes. But a week ago or so I mostly stopped tanking mythics (my highest times was only 13, highest completed a few 15s) because I got tired of all of the mechanics and knowing every pull and Awakened routes always fell on the shoulders of the tank.
I simply got tired of having all of the responsibility of everything on my tank shoulders.
I play fury spec, now. Sure, longer to get into mythics, but easy and fun.
Blizz, stop placing every responsibility on the tank, and maybe more ppl will tank.

Meh… sometimes you get the healer that is incredibly slow and is clicking on every spell.
Sometimes you get DPS that want to pull for you.
Sometimes you get a GO GO GO tank.
Typical leveling dungeon clown fiestas.

That’s been the tanking issue for a while now. Its not actually playing tanks, its playing a tank with crappy people. And crappy people run rampant in PuG’s majority of the time.

Oh, Mythic + was like the final nail in the coffin. Out of the entire group at least in my opinion the most responsibility and work is on the tank. Followed closely by the healer. Don’t think I have ran a single Mythic plus through almost all of BfA. I just don’t play to get stressed out. This is supposed to be a game.

I tanked for a bit leveling this warrior, thinking I’d try to step up and do some good with a role that many don’t want to play.
Yeah that didn’t last long. People were toxic and unforgiving as hell and that’s why this warrior is Arms now.

It gets worse when the Tank doesn’t know what they’re doing, but won’t listen to advice.
Did I say worse? Yeah, it could be worse. The Healer could think they are the tank.
I assume the Mage WANTED to tank, otherwise why would he have pulled the boss? And who are you to stand in the way of his dreams?

If you’re wearing armor as a Tank and not singing then you are most def. doing it wrong, I’m told.
