And then there were two

I’m down to my final two choices for class: Orc warrior, and orc shaman.

I enjoy tanking, and like being in demand, but I also like healing and bringing utility to a group I’m in. This is too difficult to decide.

I would go Shaman no question. Or maybe Warrior.

Shaman is just pure fun. I know players like Orc racials but warstomp is underrated if you ask me.

Give us more.

Talk about what goals you have in the game, how you plan to spend your down time. What your class fantasy with both classes is. What fears you have regarding the game. How much time you’ll play and what level of dedication you’ll play at. Etc, etc.

The more you talk about yourself in relation to WoW, the more deductions can be made about the class you might want to play.

I’m a die-hard orc fan, so I’m always going to be playing one on the horde side, unless I’d pick something like Druid.

You’ll have more avenues to play as a Shaman vs a warrior. You could always roll both and level them up in tandem.

Roll two characters! Optimize their professions to work off of eachother perfectly! Switch to the other when the one runs out of rest! (Because in classic you actually NEED rest!). Especially flavor-wise, the shaman and the warrior would be such a fun pair, imo, to switch between while leveling.

For a warrior I’d pick Orc over Tauren. Druids are hella fun, too. I’'ll be rolling Shaman again but I’m torn about going Druid as well.

Shammy Shammy Shammy! TOTEMS LIGHTING FROSTSHOCK WOLF POWERS. Psh, you want to be a loser like Superman? (Orc warrior) Or a Hero like HE MAN! Or… The Thundercat’s like Leonardo? It’s an easy pick!

My main plan as of now is to enjoy the journey, and I’m in no rush to hit 60. I’d like to see what 40 man raiding is like when I get there though. I’m not super hard core, but I’m willing to put the effort in to bring the best I can to any guild I join. Most likely I’ll put in a couple hours a night, with some late nights on the weekends.

I love dungeon content, and plan on hitting every one of them at least once. I also enjoy crafting, and plan on leveling that along with my character. I’ve never been one to just pick two gathering and wait until max to actually start making things. I’d probably go blacksmith if i roll warrior, and likely alchemy if a shaman.

lays down the Tarot cards

The first bits of information I am getting from your descriptions is that your relaxed style and schedule would fit in better with a class who enjoys a less populated competition for raid spots.

A shaman is a very sought after class, especially those players who want to heal. You could arrive late to the party, and a guild would scoop you up and slap epics on you, and do so very gladly.

You are also less compatible with an expensive class. Warriors are far and away the most expensive class to gear post-60. Shamans by comparison are laughably easy.

Just some ideas.

shaman. can heal yourself and others, get ghost wolf, can rez (can you rez yerself as well?), can slow mobs/pvpers with totem, if enhance, can get windfury procs.

Flip a coin. You will know which one you want the coin to land on in midair… pick that one.

I would say warriors, in general, are a great class to play for someone who enjoys being in a leadership type of role (especially if you are tanking). It’s just natural for a tank to lead a group through content. Most top guilds in the world are lead by their tanks. If you like being in that type of position, I would recommend playing a warrior.

It’s very viable, if not optimal, to level two characters together. Rested experience and synergistic use of professions results in a faster leveling speed for both characters.

If you just want one character, I’d give the edge to Shaman. During leveling, you are incredibly strong, far more than warrior. From level 10 until 60, you are basically a god king, doing high DPS with access to healing. At 60, mana starts throttling shaman dps, and many early bosses have high fire resist. Don’t expect to play ele or enh viably until aq40, so be aware that you are going to be playing resto for the majority of classic endgame.

Warrior is gear dependent. That’s the best way I can explain the class. Your leveling speed will vary based on the quality of your equipment. You can chose to level ineffeciently and target gear, so you are very strong, or you can level efficiently, and have iffy pieces of gear that really hinder you. I find the Warrior’s 1-60 very enjoyable, specifically because I can go out of my way to target gear I need. It always feels amazing getting a new weapon. Every piece of armor and weaponry feels damn good to obtain, and I don’t think any other class gives me the same feeling about items.

Until you get Whirlwind and either Bloodthirst or Mortal Strike, warrior is a hell of a grind, and getting to your mid 30s before engaging gameplay can be pretty rough. Where shaman is a beast from the moment they get fire totem, warrior’s power is very delayed. But once you get it, man it feels fantastic. Warrior has the potential for insane dps once you get your abilities. A shaman might be good all the way through, but a level 40 warrior with plate, mortal strike, and whirlwind is basically the strongest a classic character can get. From 40 to 60, which is usually the hardest part of leveling, you start hitting your stride.

Do it!

One option is to level both. Build up rested XP on one while you level the other, flipping back and forth. The best part is if you log in and just want to get into a dungeon group, you can fill either a tank or healer role. Another bonus is having four professions at your fingertips rather than just two - while only having to level fishing/cooking on one to supply both.

Take a look at the gear your going to be working toward, which most excites you…btw the correct answer is Dreadnaught’s Battlegear set…its ALWAYS Dreadnaught’s Battlegear set.
