Fairly frequently I find in the middle of combat my keybind presses are typing in chat instead of activating my abilities. Anyone know what causes this? I’m a mouse mover who only clicks out of combat abilities and keybinds all in combat stuff. Only thing I can think of is my cursor somehow gets all the way across the screen and down onto the chatbox while I’m mouse moving, but that seems really unlikely to me. All my keybinds are on the far left of my keyboard far from the enter key. I can’t find another key that starts chatting so I’m stumped.
Gonna go with hitting R instead of E in combat.
Number pad enter key. Activates the chat box and directs keyboard input into it, into whatever communication channel you used last.
Could be hitting number pad enter key with my thumb knuckle when I move my mouse I guess?
R is bound to one of my main combat abilities so I don’t think it can be that or I’d be chatting constantly.
Clean your keyboard might be a chewing gum stuck in there 
This problem have ALWAYS been there and it is not yet WoW. It is so easy to accidentally activate an unwanted command and suddenly your commands goes to the chat, the spellbook open in your face hiding mobs. We also have crashing mods delivering annoying error messages And I have a browser that open up an not asked for debug funtion taking over half the screen multiple times a day. I have NEVER willingly called for this function.
I wished there was some simple way to supress unwanted function activation. In WoW you can remove a lot of preset key bindings that call for these annoying abilities.
could you somehow be pressing the / key? it opens the chat too
if it starts typing in chat you can click anywhere on the screen and it will go inactive this was added in 7.3 i think
My / key is bound to a mouse button so it doesn’t open chat.
I found in the keybindings for social how to unbind enter key from opening chat. Hopefully, that fixes my issue.

Usually happens when my cat decides he wants to rub his whole face over my keyboard while I’m in the middle of a key. I forgive him because he’s cute tho
