Ancient Petrified Leaf

Still have one in my hunters bank. I look at it every now and then and am a little sad, but also a lot nostalgic.

Not finishing that and not getting Atiesh are two of my greatest regrets in the game. Atiesh because of it’s lore mostly.

How many old hats in here from back in vanilla that missed a boat that will never sail again?

(Also, I KNOW this will devolve into a thread about the mage tower and people complaining about things being taken out of the game… I’m not complaining about it. I’m sad I missed the boat, but I recognize that sometimes… that happens in life. I’m “fine” with it, even if it makes me a little sad.)

Well you can get that all done on classic!

It isn’t the same bud.

Back on my first account I started getting Atiesh but never finished it. That was my main regret. One thing which really grinds my gears is that I have yet to obtain thunderfury.

I have 1 binding on 4 characters lol. I stopped running MC a while ago. I still want a few odds and ends outa there. It’d be cool to have it for Timewalking with my prot paladin and warrior.

I regret not caring about challenge modes in Pandaria… O, Phoenix, you elude me so :sob:

Shame you’re a filthy alliance player or I’d assist you in farming it.

I didn’t care much for them, though I am sad I missed out on the DK armor

I play both sides, baby.

I still have some Nelf and troll heads in my bank from the AV in Classic.

I think the issue with removing those things is that they made the game feel a bit more monstrous. Everything was exclusionary back then which I don’t think is great for a game, but I do think

  • Getting into the 40 man
  • Downing the boss
  • Having the Leaf drop
  • You winning over other hunters
  • You going out on major PITA quests
  • Finally getting the thing

That really feels like a personalized quest, and you get recognized for your achievements with unique weaponry that you can stand around with, getting praised for.

It’s an impossibility to create unique quests for every player but finding ways to increase that opportunity for people gives them a feeling of “Champion” and that sort of thing, that sort of opportunity and goal is missing these days.

I got the eye of sulfuron on my rogue. Finally got it on this character recently. Took me a long time to get it. I have both bindings on multiple characters and only made one thunderfury on my warrior.

As of posting this, I am trying to get the mount from Kal in tempest keep.

I agree… While I personally loved legion and I LOVED artifact weapons… it was also my biggest complaint. Like… how many freakin ashbringers are there? the vast majority of the weapons were basically invented and never existed in lore before while at the same time they ignored some pretty obvious potential choices for artifact weapons. I’m glad they got rid of them, I think it was a bad decision.

One of my few gripes with the game right now is the whole “Champion!” concept… we’re all godmode, we’re all the hero in the story and I don’t mean We as a group, I mean each and every individual person is the hero…

Back in the day, the “Raid” was the hero, the community was the hero, not every single person individually and to me, that felt so much more real.

I agree that there need to be things to make individuals who’ve accomplished something feel individually accomplished, but the entire game is themed around individual accomplishment now and it just further erodes community in my opinion.

My sentiments exactly, while also adding on the Monk transmog. Alas!

I’m so glad I got my Benediction/Anathema made back then. The guild I was in wasn’t serious enough to get into Naxx sadly so I never even really had a shot at Atiesh, but at least I got my flippy staff.

(I kind of wish they'd update the models though)

Good. The community in this game and most games is wildly obnoxious and thinks their the greatest thing since sliced bread, with almost zero capacity for empathy within the community. The game is inundated with whiners, and if you ever suggest an idea on these forums, the amount of negative response is a major deterrent. I hope those people suffer endlessly until they change the way the interact with people.

Personal achievement is good, but diverse achievement should be the goal. You’re right, there should’t be 700 Ashbringers in Stormwind. But variations on the model could exist, and if there were 20 different models, each dependent on a unique set of quests that exclude you from choosing the others, the game might feel a bit more exotic.

I don’t need to be the only toon at max level, saving the world from the big baddy. I need to be someone upon whom many things are dependent, but that I may or may not get credit for it, and many may never know.

I get a bit sad about not getting the BC pre-event tabard. I had the quest to get Hand of A’dal and Kael’s quest item but I missed out on getting Lady V’s. I found out later that I could have completed the quest but i had already dumped the quest out of my journal. So I missed out twice. I really wish I would have got the Hunter CM armor (only got the Warriors).

But! I try not to dwell on this stuff. Pointless.

See and this is a minor thing that got me excited about shadowlands.

They talk about finding the source of Frostmourn and the Helm of Domination and how we will have custom legendaries crafted… we’re going to the magical forge where these ultimate power things are made and having them made, customized, etc. This “fixes” my issue.

Ashbringer is Ashbringer… it’s one of a kind. In my opinion, it should have stayed one of a kind. Now, had we found the person who forged Ashbringer and had a new version made for us… that would have made so much more sense and felt more realistic in the game. Sort of how the DK’s use shards of Frostmourn to make their weapons.

Not only does the ‘customizable legendaries’ thing with a lore tie in, add player agency to the game and remove some RNG elements, but it also makes the lore of why you have this ultimate power item make sense without turning it into a single player game that a bunch of other people happen to be playing at the same time.

As to your other point, the forums are a cesspool. However, I recently joined a pretty large guild on my horde server and they’re chill. Little to no nasty toxic crap and we group up to do random stuff. They’re a casual guild, they don’t hardcore raid or push high keys, but they’re fun and friendly. That’s what I think of when I think community. Right now we’re all the masters of the universe, the guild is just a chat room… Hell, look at the end cinematic, YOU kill NZoth, screw the other 19 people YOU did it. No… no I didn’t. We did. My raid did. We as a team should be highlighted, we should feel more connected as a group for having accomplished a goal together.

I was under the impression that they got a small variant for the epic weapons - a sort of “We learned how to Forge it blah blah blah.”

Anyway, yeah the guilds I’m in are fine. But the forums and /4 are the dregs of humanity. I do like the concept of raiding but as a non-raider, it doesn’t effect me much.

Personally, I think they should start giving us scores for our individualized win rates in Looking for Battle Grounds, which would allow the players to faction off into PVP guilds more efficiently. And improve our own PVP styles.

I think I have an eternium rose sitting around in one of my warrior’s banks.
