Do any of you use Ancestral Protection Totem? Even for fun in casual content?
I would as enh if it were in the class tree.
Just curious, but why would the class tree matter?
so all shaman can use it.
Personally I can’t think of the last time I ever used it off the top of my head, I think preparing for someone to die is preparing for failure.
Battle Rez is to compensate for mistakes. We need to remember it doesn’t generally work on most one shot mechanics that are meant to be avoided “ Cannot reincarnate an ally who dies to massive damage.” So essentially a worse battle rez as they come back with only 20% hp not 60% and we have to time and expect them to die in 30 seconds of using it.
Plus it shares are node with Earthen Wall Totem. Earthen Wall is great especially in Raid.
Funny you ask. I just tried it out for fun the last key I did and it was ok. I popped it when the tank would do very big pulls and I think I got a rez out of it.
Most of the time its not needed but can be an option if you don’t have a brez in party. Only problem is we’re forced to guess if someone will die based on pull size/difficulty. If the CD was lowered to 3 mins it would be better and possibly a more attractive talent choice.
Its a silly totem. Should give us a brez and be done with it.

I don’t personally spec into it, but it’s not a horrible ability. It’s just another defensive cooldown to rotate, even if no one dies the HP boost is decent.
But this would also be giving up on healing tide totem ever being good.
Fun fact about it. It doesn’t count towards the brez counter, so it’s a free group brez
I am saying its crummy right now.
And if they open it up to other specs, they will just keep it at its current crumminess. They arent going to put a major healing cd on other specs, and make it do high healing. Just look at what resto shaman have to put up with after the Ancestral Guidance’s nerfing.
Then Ancestral Guidance would like a word first.
I am fine with more totems for non resto specs. I just would like healing tide to be worth more, since its a major cd.
And they already went out of their way to nerf the class tree healing cooldown.
