Ancestral Call should not exist

“Invoke the spirits of your ancestors granting you their power. Increases a random secondary stat by 102 for 12 seconds.”

This is the Mag’har racial, is something that only shamans can do, and orcs (from AU and MU) have shamans, but they are not a race of shamans. That’s simple.

Apparently not.

If anything, it sounds like it should be a Tauren racial. That’s what the whole Tauren Heritage Armor quest is about, regardless of class. Seeking the guidance of the ancestors, saving the ancestors, honoring the ancestors, etc. Apparently, every Tauren also gets a personal ancestral spirit guide, as well, (again, regardless of class).

I agree completely…

I will say that the ancestors are very important to Orcish shaman, and that Orcish shaman are/were very important to Orcs as a whole, to the point of being revered and respected across clan lines. So, something of religious significance to them is likely significant to most of Orckind.

But, with the fleshing out of the Heritage Armor quests, it doesn’t seem anywhere near as pervasive as it is in Tauren culture. Seriously. You’re going to hear the word “ancestors” alot when you do it.

If non-shamans can do it, seems like not only shamans can do it.

Since when? the lore is very clear that only shamans can do those things, even among orcs. The racial don’t match with the known lore. It’s like create a racial for stormwind humans that allow them to use the Light even if they are not priests or paladins.

Is it though? Cause talking to ghosts seems like a pretty common occurrence, regardless of class. I don’t really see much wrong with this, orcish society has always had a strong connection to their ancestors - shaman or no.

Apparently… there is something about Maghar Orcs that allows the spirits of their ancestors on AU Draenor to empower them any where they are in the universe.

Playable MU Green Skin Orcs don’t have that racial ability.

It is almost as if the Maghar have the souls of their ancestors in a soul forge that grants its boon through the Twisting Nether, enabling a Maghar to tap into its power regardless of proximity to their ancestors.

They could have called it something more personal. Like “briefly empower yourself with adrenaline as you recall the efforts of your ancestors” or something more generic. Something that describes it as a “self buff” and not so much a boon that is granted.

Oh, when you said it is a Mag’har racial, I assume that meant not just shamans could do it now. Which could be seen as a retcon.

I mean, even in Vanilla, humans had stuff like sword specialization. But I don’t think lorewise all humans have a better potential for swords. Might not be worth digging into overly.

If you are talking about being contacted by a ghost (spirit) that’s ok, it can happen to anybody. Now, if you are talking about being capable to call an spirit and alo get some power from him, that’s another and very different issue and something that only people who is prepared for that (mostly shamans) can do. Or maybe someone who is blessed with that gift, but people like that are a small minoritie among any race.

I thought the same. But if that case is a really bad retcon, and not will be the first time that something like this happen with the lore.

Or maybe the mag’har as a race are more spiritual than your standard orc.

Really think the Mag’har racial should have been something along the lines of a temporary health boost, like the battlemaster trinket or last stand. Would demonstrate that Mag’har are pretty tough and rugged.

Ancestral call is a little… too mystical for non-shaman orcs.
