does not count.
I think if done right it would be awesome
Unless you like tanking or healing
wrong. the holy trinity of tank, dps, heals is just fine. the issue the community wants tanks and healers. then get mad when they cant find any. when a majority of players will tear into the tank and healers for mistakes. like DPS cant make mistakes and our azeroths perfect children.
Itâs a normal though⊠literally the only legitimate place to learn mechanics for a raid since LFR is so toned down that youâll most likely learn terrible habits as opposed to correct ones for progressing through to heroic and mythic raiding difficulty
They are boring. Maybe they should make the new tank feel more dps centric and in that process might actually be fun. Iâve tried a couple of tanksâŠ
I think evoker class is already on a pathway of melee feel for whatever reasons. Just give them the tank like people are asking. Make them fun maybe give that tank spec a TAIL WAP while they at it too. Possible even a CHOMP. Give me my actual caster and heal class.
EDIT: They should actually get two tail waps. One that is normal and one that triggers behind the player to pay tribute to old dragon fights.
You can probably attribute a lot of that entitlement to a gravitation towards logs and io scores being an testament to skill and quality of the player, neither scoring system takes into account ability to push buttons and perform all aspects of content as opposed to just mashing the optimal dps rotation whereas the tank and healer both have a more tangible evaluation on quality of their game play, tanks especially in M+ with how exact the routes are now
Playing a tank role is not reactive. It involves study of all dungeons and raid strats. Without that study you kill your group and get yelled at by everyone.
DPS and Healers you can figure it out as you go, however this does not apply to the tank. Being in charge is only fun for a few people who have that mind set. For the rest of us is just work, not playâŠjust chores.
The way they have tank structured means its only playable by specific people who enjoy that level of control. Blizzard can ether embrace this and put more dps in each group to create a better balance of personality types. Or Blizzard can dumb down the tank role until it is playable by everyone thus angering the current tanks. Itâs a hard toss up.
But adopting FF14âs identification of new players, commendation system and especially the bonus to the party for carrying a first timers might help groups overall.
The tanks have always been a problem and sadly throwing bigger bait at them has made them jaded over the years. That and itâs the only thing they have tried.
I personally would love a âtank botâ and a âheal botâ vehicle at the start of each dungeon. Something that any player can jump in and fill the basicâs of that role with. Mind you it would never be as good as the originals, but it would allow a low level mythic with all dps players to run.
this is very true. i rember back when gearscore came out and its just been a slippery slope of trying to judge people right off the bat. then forbid the tank of a mythic + does a route they are more comfortable with and can still ensure the key being completed. then a dps loses their minds. As I stand if your a dps who doesnât like how a tank does it. they can tank.
I donât really agree with your logic regarding raids, there are just as many dps and healer raid wipe mechanics now as there are tank mechanics, Iâd actually argue that itâs easier being a raid tank than a healer or dps, but in m+ the tank is absolutely the driving factor to a successful run
I am not sure if youâre arguing for it or against it.
The main reason there is a tank shortage, and there is one, is the toxic community attitude towards tanks. Lose the attitude, have more tanks. Simple math.
Semper Fi!
itâs a general toxicity all around unfortunately. the game is old enough that there are a lot of people who are really good at it, or at least think of themselves as good at it, and there havenât been any major changes to the core concepts to shake that elitism that seems to exponentially grow each expansion
yeah thats my bad went off a little bit lol. I get upset with entitled dps thinking they ca never do wrong then turn on tanks and healers for mistakes. The trinity as a whole is good and works. the issues is how we as as a community treat the tanks and healers of the world. the amount of posts from new players who are simply lvling and want to tank. make a small mistake then the community attacks them with slurs and uncalled words. then wonder why we cant find those roles is the main issue in my mind.
First Iâd say Tank design has been subpar since WotLK. There was a shift in trying to make Tanks difficult by making them manage active mitigation all the time or get nuked which isnât fun. Not only that it didnât make Tank gameplay more difficult it only made it annoying, you had to press all these buttons just to gain back what you lost.
A Tank should be Tanky just standing there with the right gear. âActive Mitigationâ shouldnât be maintained at 100% uptime but used for spikes proactively. So they need to go back to a more Unhittable Tanks design for mitigation tanks and remove the bad philosophy of spamming active mitigation.
Hoping with Talent trees we can get high levels of Dodge/Parry and Block again. That would be great!!!
Now there is another problem and a lot people like myself MAIN Tanks in PvP and they constantly have been getting nerfed âTake 50% more dmgâ which that has to be removed. Tanks need a lot of love in PvP so they can fill their role actively and trying to minimize community hate they get. Which could be done by helping their class design and buffing them to do their roll as FC and support.
If we get more people coming back to play Tanks in PvP again they will naturally also do PvE and we have more Tanks. Atm I am only playing my Twinks or Classic since we donât have these Tank problems in PvE or PvP.
People donât want anything to do with upcoming or new tanks. They reach a point where they canât get the gear or experience they need, not only that but they also suffer in other areas of the game like pvp. What complicates things even further, many of their abilities have been given away to other classes.
It was a dungeon, and he had experience in it as a DPS. There wasnât anything in there he was gonna learn even without the high gear unless heâd spent every run as DPS watching Netflix up to that point.
Sounds like 2 would still have to choose to drive the tank/heal bots. What are the odds of a 5 man, all DPS group not already having 2 people who could change specs and tank/heal currently?
More DPS to herd? Nooooo
What are your thoughts on undead protection warriors named Zeerionjax?
I took a break from most pug tanking when some folks started getting bent out of shape for not knowing the MDI routes in normal and heroic. Life is too short to deal with toxic try hards.
Never understood why Blizz hasnât designed raid fights to require more tanks relative to difficulty level. Especially on council fights.
