An Update on Shadowlands

I support a delayed game a lot more than a broken game. In fact, the old philosophy of, “We will release it when we believe it is ready” is my preferred. IMO, the idea of delaying the game to to make sure it is as flawless as possible, raises the suspense. But there is a breaking point where the question of vaporware arises. But that won’t happen with Shadowlands

I agree completely. Blizzard announced a date knowing that the game wasn’t going to be ready, and then “surprisingly” postponed the release. It seems to me that the only way they get any praise these days is by setting our expectations as low as possible. Seeing the community going head over heels with praise for Blizz for “finally listening to the players!” (lol) is cringe AF. I don’t know why more people aren’t seeing this…

Thank you for listening. <3 Take all the time you need

Curious if the CE instore Boxes will still be available on the dates specified?

Definitely better to have a solid product. Deadlines are important, but not at the cost of quality content.

Especially over a delayed release. Almost feel like I live in the twilight zone. I knew the world had more crazies in it nowadays, but daaaaang. :joy:

When you’re scraping the bottom of the barrel, last week’s leftovers are a freaking banquet compared to last month’s rotten fish pie.

I wonder if any of the 800 employees let go could have helped this expansion release on time and in good shape…

There is nothing “fiasco” about it. As another reply said, a new date would create unnecessary pressure. Seriously, I’m willing to wait “'til it’s done.” Even if that means next year, let’s face it; 2020 suck hard and has slowed everyone down. Why not take their time to ramp back up and do it right so that the game is even more enjoyable when it does release. I really don’t care if they wait until the first half of next year.

Thank you Blizzard for delaying the game. Sadly (for some reason), I didn’t get into the Beta, but from what I’ve heard (although most people are overall happy for the next expansion), it needs some work. So, as many in here have said, “polish away.” Even if it’ delays to next year, better to have a game that works out of the box than to have issues that slow down the flow, and screw up the mechanics. Thank you for thinking of the players as well as yourselves!

No concerns here. Keep working away at giving the customer the best expansion you can on launch. I don’t care if it took another 3 months to make it really good. I remember when Blizzard delayed Burning Crusade (and we know how much of a favorite that expansion is). Your letter to the fans at the end of 2006 was almost identical to this one - you need just a little more time to “polish it up”. You told us in October that you needed time and you didn’t release Burning Crusade until January 2007. Burning Crusade was well worth the wait of 3 months! So polish away and make this a good, successful launch for us.

I’m also grateful for the prepatch, which will be good to adjust to the level squish and play around in that (plus get to level a bunch of new toons with the new leveling system). While I’m sad that we won’t be enjoying the expansion in October, I’m ok with the delay and your reasons provided. It’s all good here. Keep making Azeroth great!!!

THANK you for this. Take your time, fix the things that need fixing. I hope this relieves some of the stress on your staff, and I’m sure we’ll have a better product in the end because of this decision.

Not happy to see the game needs more time. Time off work was booked and my birthday fell during the first few days of release. Would really appreciate a beta invitation as compensation. Watching all these streamers beta test is driving me insane with envy. That being said, I am so super stoked to play Shadowlands and am proud to see you holding back until it’s ready. Just don’t tell me this was a business move because a lot of people bought monthly subscriptions in preparation for this release.

Everyone saying good on blizzard it needed more polish clearly hasn’t played the pos that is beta. Covenants are a mess, conduits are a mess, legendaries are a mess, class balances are a mess, dungeons and raids are a mess. This is more than a quick polish issue. This is a full blown system failure and devs spread too thin.

Thank you for doing what is right!!! Please keep listening to your testers even if that means pull the dn ripcord…
Also beta please :slightly_smiling_face:???

Been an active subscriber since 2004. I would appreciate a Beta invitation.

Just more of the same from Blizzard. This expac has been a long time coming. A lot of players have or are moving on to other games as I am. It’s been a long time coming but I am done with WOW. To those that decide to stay, GOOD LUCK.

Good! No game should be released before its time. Don’t become that other big gaming company!
